Our home- a restored farmhouse- is just 3km from the beach (2km from the Levanto train station) yet away from the crowds. Our spacious independent apartment has everything (including fresh eggs!) to make your vacation stay as pleasant as possible.

The space

Great apartment between Levanto and Monterosso offers easy access to the Cinque Terre. Great place for hikers and nature lovers. The apartment is located on the bottom floor of our home, a typical Ligurian farmhouse that was originally built as a mill in the 1700s. A bubbling stream runs outside the apartment - wonderful for sleeping!
Our 2 room apartment features an independent entrance, fully equipped kitchen (new for 2017 - a large refrigerator! Perfect for longer staying guests who like to cook at home), 4 comfortable beds, outdoor space and fresh veggies from our garden and organic eggs from our chickens! We live onsite so we are available for advice or help when needed.
The apartment has high-speed (for rural Italy) wi-fi internet connection and a collection of English language books and games.

We are located in the township of Levanto, a charming village with an awesome beach and great restaurants. Monterosso (and the rest of the Cinque Terre) is located 6 minutes away on the train. OR you can get there by an hour and a half hike straight from the apartment.
It's best to bring a car as the road into the village is narrow and dark. We provide our guests with a parking pass which allows you to park free at the Levanto train station and in the center of town and at a discounted rate at the beach parking area.

We are a working Ligurian farm during the summer and our house is very old. The charm of our location is that it is 'real'- that can sometimes include spiders (the spindly nice ones, though we remove them when we clean!) sharing your space, fireflies coming through your windows (in the late spring/early summer) as well as the occasional mini-scorpion. Our chickens sometimes escape and one of our dogs is very friendly and curious (and is a little bit of a beggar). Please do not expect luxury- we have a very comfortable apartment that has a very high price/quality ratio but, in the end, we are a rustic Ligurian farm. The great majority of our clients come just for this reason and we do everything we can to make everyone as happy and comfortable as possible. We are not on the beach and we are not a new construction however and we prefer that our potential guests have expectations that meet what we offer.

If you prefer a more central location in the Cinque Terre, or if you do not have a car, check out our other property in the heart of Monterosso!

Guest access

You'll have full access to our organic vegetable garden and eggs from our happy chickens. Ample private outdoor space. You have an independent entrance and we will not be entering your private space. We will be moving around the garden-

Interaction with guests

We live upstairs but have our own entrance so we are always available to answer questions or help out.

Other things to note

We do live in a rural-ish area and so there are lizards, spiders, fireflies, mini-scorpions, dragonflies, frogs around (not in!) the house. Luckily where we live, there are NO MOSQUITOS! The apartment has air conditioning but it is naturally cool thanks to the thick, old walls so you will most likely not need it!

We are extremely energy conscious and expect all guests to be respectful of water, electricity and natural gas consumption and to make sure that all lights are out when not being used.
We have strict recycling rules in our township so guests are asked to separate their trash according to type and to either utilize the bins near the house or inform us if their trash is ready to be disposed of.
Our home is over 300 years old and has a very sensitive septic system. Please do not throw anything except for toilet paper in the toilet.
Have fun!

Kate is a gracious, kind and very knowledgeable hostess. She went out of her way to make sure things were going well throughout our stay in her apartment. The apartment is cosy, very clean and a comfortable home away from home. All the little things one needs but doesn't realize they need them were already ready and waiting for us. She left a bottle of wine in the fridge, gave us great advice for our daily adventures and really helped to make our stay a lovely one. The apartment is a little bit out of town, so a car is definitely needed, but after the crowds of the 5 terre the quiet peaceful surroundings are worth the drive.

Staying at Kate's place was extremely comfortable and relaxing during our time around Cinque Terre. The place is spacious, clean and comfortable. It was a perfect place to come home to after a long day of hiking and swimming. Kate gave us amazing recommendations for hikes and the place is conveniently located close to the main station which gives easy access to nearby towns. Kate also provided us with a local parking permit which was helpful when parking in the town and near the train station. Overall the stay was enjoyable and felt like a great home away from home. We would've have loved to stay longer if we had more time.

Kate made us feel at home straight away, showing us around the apartment, the vegetable garden and introducing us to the chickens! My fiancé and I traveled with two friends, so we got the bedroom and they had two twin beds that Kate and her husband had set up in the living room. The bubbling stream was a definite plus! We were welcomed with a bottle of sparkling wine, and juice and milk to start us off for our stay. The apartment is rustic, but remains pleasant and peaceful. The train station is very close by car (with free parking thanks to Kate), and we spent two days visiting Cinque Terre by train and a third visiting with the ferry boat that leaves right out of Levanto's harbor. It's a very convenient starting point for visiting the area. We did have a problem with some excess humidity in the apartment since we arrived the day after some serious thunderstorms. That said, Kate had a dehumidifyer ready for us and did all she could to help. She provided us with a fresh change of sheets and a space heater upon request, and gave us a discount to make up for it. Overall, would absolutely recommend Kate as a host (I'd love to visit the apartment in Monterosso) and this apartment to those who wouldn't mind the quirks that an 18th century farmhouse might bring :) Thank you Kate & Fabio!

Hosts were very helpful and welcoming! Great rustic apartment for our vacation stay in the Cinque Terre area. Beach towels were even available for use during our stay! Location was quiet and relaxing. Close to Levanto train station and local grocer. So helpful to also get laundry done in the midst of our vacation! Will be recommending to our friends!

Kate was a wonderful, accommodating host. She was also our ride to and from the train station in Levanto upon arrival and departure. Fresh eggs, beautiful view, great hiking, fireflies, and a comfortable apartment. We had a great time.
