This small, private room has everything you need. With plenty of storage, a mirrored vanity and a super comfy thick mattress. Your east window has warm light and the plants love it there. Curl up, make yourself at home with the birds in the decor. This is a hostel, but it's the nicest and cleanest one you'll ever see. Besides the two private rooms, there are dorm rooms with bunk beds.

The space

This craftsman style house has fir and oak wood floors, recently restored to their original luster. The large, comfy common room has musical instruments, books, games & puzzles. The bistro style dining area has great natural light, making you want to linger longer. Everything has been prepared for you to relax and unwind.

Guest access

Guests have access to the well equipped kitchen for making their lunch or dinner. They have access to a piano, marimba, guitar and many percussion instruments. Guests have access to two large common rooms with a cozy fire and comfy furnishings. Guests have access to the internet via wifi.

Interaction with guests

We respond to our guests' desire for interaction. If they want to engage, we're happy to talk. But if guests want to be left alone, we're okay with that, too. We live in the basement so we’re always available if needed. We prefer if you arrive between 4pm and 6pm if that's possible, but will greet you gladly at any hour if you just ring the doorbell.

Other things to note

Check in time is 4pm - 6pm unless you make other advance arrangements.
Guests can stay up to two weeks.

Kitchen Use - The kitchen is available for lunch use between 11am to 12pm. Kitchen access for dinner is 5pm to 9pm. Everyone appreciates it when you immediately clean up after yourself in the kitchen.

Bathroom Sharing - Your time in the bathroom should be as enjoyable as the rest of your visit. Please take maximum enjoyment with minimal time, if you suspect others may be waiting for their turn. We provide mirrors and hair dryers in all the rooms where additional primping can take place. Fresh towels are in the shelves near the bathroom, used towels go into hampers after use. Because staff are unable to clean between each guest use, it is important to leave the bathroom better than you found it each time.

Perfect boarding house experience. Very clean and aesthetically beautiful. Quiet and respectful environment with a love for conversation, art, and music. Musical jamming with provided instruments an added wow to the whole experience. Well situated to the fun shops and cafes in town. Great staff, great place.

Gail was very nice and Oliver let us in when we got there. The coffee in the morning was great.

Response from Amber:
HI Ashley, Thanks for the good feedback. Your visit over New Year's Eve did correspond with a louder than usual situation in the house: "movie night". I regret that it impacted you negatively. Should you ever visit again, you'll find our enforced quiet hours begin at 10pm, 364 days a year.

I loved staying here! My sister & I came for a wedding for the weekend. We stayed in a private room where we felt at home & comfortable the time that we were there! Thanks again Gail!

Gail was a very friendly host. We could check in very late, that was no problem. Gail cooked a very delicious breakfast, she served fresh fruit and yoghurt among other things. Thanks!

Very nice Host and the location is right downtown. Everything was as expected and it was a pleasant stay. Just note that there is no soap/body wash so you need to bring your own.

I love to travel and meet new people. Hosting is almost as much fun as traveling except the people come to you!
