Interaction with Guests
We respond to our guests' desire for interaction. If they want to engage, we're happy to talk. But if guests want to be left alone, we're okay with that, too. We live in the basement so we’re always available if needed.
Our neighborhood is on the edge of downtown and close to the capitol campus. There are a lot of office buildings springing up all around us, but our row of residential housing hugs this main artery. You can easily walk to many interesting places.
Our Intercity Transit Routes 94 (best) and 64 swing by to take you to the transit station for more connections. One block away, you can catch the DASH, a free bus that goes up & down the main drag from the Capitol to the Farmer's Market. Two buses enroute to Tacoma go past our corner, the 603 and the 612. To bus to and from Seattle, check Sound Transit's schedule for connecting with Tacoma. If you take the train to Olympia, bring your bike. There are two awesome bike trails between us and the train station.

We provide mirrors and hair dryers in all the rooms where additional primping can take place. Fresh towels are in the shelves near the bathroom, used towels go into hampers after use. Christopher and The Ground Inn were wonderful. I had a great stay there! Christopher and his wife were very welcoming and communication was quite easy. The room was warm, cozy and clean. Breakfast was amazing! A cheese omelette, a fresh pear and whole wheat toast. Yum! I would definitely recommend it and plan to stay here again.
Welcoming peaceful place to stay. Christopher was very accommodating about my restricted diet and a wonderful cook. Great coffee! I enjoyed meeting others who were staying here, and had great breakfast conversations. When there is a full house, the shared bathrooms can feel too few, though people were considerate. It is fun to have a music room with electric piano and a an artful scent-free environment.
If you are looking for a little bit of home away from home, this is a GREAT spot to stop. Christopher and his wife work to make their home a very calming and restful place. Comfortable room. Space for food storage. Complete access to the kitchen and living spaces. Easy locked access to the house and your living quarters. Within walking distance to some great Olympia sites including the Capital grounds, the marina and port (great seafood restaurants), local coffee shops and boutiques, and even some local parks with good walking/hiking options. Also within about an hour and a half from Mt. Rainier. It's a great location to branch out from.
If you are looking to be pampered with room service and a big breakfast, this isn't the place to be. Breakfast was great, but simple (coffee/yogurt/fruit/toast/simple omelet), and although they wanted to be sure I was comfortable, this friendly couple is pretty hands-off when it comes to their involvement in your stay. Christopher was healing from some recent surgery, which could have affected their involvement with their guests, but overall you are on your own...which I loved. No need for extra attention here. Just give me a safe, comfortable, peaceful place to stay when I'm on this kind vacation and I'm happy. I was VERY satisfied. Thanks Christopher and Kristen!
Christopher and Kristen are great hosts for this house in central, downtown Olympia. Their hospitality lights up a modern, comfortable urban residence. We'll certainly return.
If you're staying in Olympia you have to stay at this place! It is very clean, beautifully decorated and felt very comfortable. The hosts are so kind and very helpful. It's also a great location and it's even down the block from a very delicious tamale truck. Such a positive experience, love this place!!!
I am new to Air B n B and I didn't really know the drill. The flexible and kind hosts of the Ground Inn were more than helpful as I got situated. Christopher is obviously a terrific cook, has good taste for flavors. Made me an awesome breakfast - eggs, pears, toast - Yum! Thoughtful, generous spirited, cool beans host and hostess.
