Interaction with Guests
We respond to our guests' need for interaction. If they want to engage, we're happy to talk. But if guests want to be left alone, we're okay with that, too. We live in the basement so we’re always available if needed.
Our neighborhood is on the edge of downtown and close to the capitol campus. There are a lot of office buildings springing up all around us, but our row of residential housing hugs this main artery. You can easily walk to many interesting places.
Our Intercity Transit Routes 94 (best) and 64 swing by to take you to the transit station for more connections. One block away, you can catch the DASH, a free bus that goes up & down the main drag from the Capitol to the Farmer's Market. Two buses enroute to Tacoma go past our corner, the 603 and the 612. To bus to and from Seattle, check Sound Transit's schedule for connecting with Tacoma. If you take the train to Olympia, bring your bike. There are two awesome bike trails between us and the train station.

We had a nice time at the Ground Inn. Christopher was very helpful with check in and he cooked an excellent breakfast! The space was clean and comfortable. The inn also contains some dorm style rooms like a hostel.
You should stay here if you want to socialize with friendly locals and interesting travelers. Earplugs are even offered since sound can travel in the house. We took a delightful evening walk to have supper--everything was easy to find on foot. This is a great place for young travelers or anyone who wants to feel connected. There was also yummy French toast in the morning.
Topher and Kristin were very welcoming and made the most delicious breakfasts, even catering to gluten allergies. It was a great place to stay while visiting family in Olympia, with a revolving door of guest who were equally welcoming and great to talk with over breakfasts.
The private Van Gogh room was clean and the bed comfy and the shared bathroom was always tidy and clean. The mural is amazing to wake up to and the upstairs rooms and girls dorm was quiet in the early morning.
The Ground Inn was exactly what we were looking for in a stay - quiet, private, and comfortable. We had a very busy trip, so our interaction with Christopher and Kristen was limited, but every encounter was easy and lovely. The room was exactly what we needed to relax after hectic days of chasing around a 4 year old.
The only downside to the accommodation? The walls are very thin and the hallways beautifully carry sound. Light sleepers might be best served by bringing earplugs. But the pillows are so comfy, you might fall asleep as soon as your head hits them.
Anyone who may be an over-packer, this room is perfect for you. There are shelves, drawers, and a closet with ample space (and hangers!).
My only regret- we never got to enjoy breakfast at the Inn! Our next trip, we'll definitely take Christopher up on his offer. We were fools to deny him!
Great place with cool rooms breakfast looked great, bathroom is a little awkward for taller people.
The exterior of the home is not remarkable, but the inside is warm and inviting. If you like hardwood floors vs carpets and more natural
furnishings, you'll like this place. Nicely appointed with interesting details, very clean and well kept. The hosts are gracious, accommodating and non-obtrusive. A good central location from which to enjoy the city.
