The Space

This craftsman style house has fir and oak wood floors, recently restored to their original luster. The large, comfy common room has musical instruments, books, games & puzzles. The bistro style dining area has great natural light, making you want to linger longer. Everything has been prepared for you to relax and unwind.

Guest Access

Guests have access to the well equipped kitchen for making their lunch or dinner. They have access to a piano, marimba, guitar and many percussion instruments. Guests have access to two large common rooms with a cozy fire and comfy furnishings. Guests have access to the internet via wifi.

Interaction with Guests

We respond to our guests' need for interaction. If they want to engage, we're happy to talk. But if guests want to be left alone, we're okay with that, too. We live in the basement so we’re always available.

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood is on the edge of downtown and close to the capitol campus. There are a lot of office buildings springing up all around us, but our row of residential housing hugs this main artery. You can easily walk to many interesting places.

Getting around

Our Intercity Transit Routes 94 (best) and 64 swing by to take you to the transit station for more connections. One block away, you can catch the DASH, a free bus that goes up & down the main drag from the Capitol to the Farmer's Market. Two buses enroute to Tacoma go past our corner, the 603 and the 612. To bus to and from Seattle, check Sound Transit's schedule for connecting with Tacoma. If you take the train to Olympia, bring your bike. There are two awesome bike trails between us and the train station.

Other Things to Note

Check in time is 4pm - 6pm unless you make other advance arangements.
The house is unlocked during check in and locked during all other hours of the day. We prepare the house for new guests from 1pm- 4pm and ask that guests find things to do outside the Inn between those hours. Guests have keys so they can access their rooms during this time, but no visitors or new guests are allowed during these hours. Guests can stay up to two weeks.

Kitchen Use - The kitchen is available for lunch use between 11am to 1pm. Kitchen access for dinner is 5pm to 9pm. Everyone appreciates it when you immediately clean up after yourself in the kitchen.

Bathroom Sharing - Your time in the bathroom should be as enjoyable as the rest of your visit. Please take maximum enjoyment with minimal time, if you suspect others may be waiting for their turn. We provide mirrors and hair dryers in all the rooms where additional primping can take place. Fresh towels are in the shelves near the bathroom, used towels go into hampers after use. Leave the bathroom better than you found it each time.

  • This place was great! Christopher & his wife were both very sweet, the house was super-clean, walking distance from the downtown area, the breakfast was great, AND Christopher even honored all of our different food allergies (there were 6 of us!).

I'd stay here again for sure.

    Yeaaaah, AirBnb!

  • The hosts were super kind. Christopher woke up early in the morning and made an omelet for a few of us in the morning. It was one of the best breakfasts that I have had in a long time. I appreciated that before I left for a day of work. I slept all through the night and felt safe. I would definitely stay here in the future!

  • It was a pleasure to stay with Christopher and Kristin. Christopher is a great cook and makes you feel right at home. I only wished I got to stay and enjoy their company longer. This was my first time using airbnb and I think I was really lucky to have such great hosts!

  • Loved my stay in the Women's Bunk Room. It was like a very swank hostel;-) Extremely clean, convenient, and quiet. Christopher was an excellent host, very kind and helpful. What's so cool about this place is that they also have private rooms with larger beds if that is what you need. I would definitely recommend this to anyone coming to Olympia! Also, excellent coffee and breakfast;-)

  • What a delightful surprise to find this gorgeous Bed and Breakfast! Slept better in their bunk room than in most hotels and the breakfasts were scrumptious. Kristen has a such a kind and warm Inn Keeper presence and Christopher is truly a gifted Chef. Each day, the organic, healthy food was prepared lovingly and stimulating conversations abounded around the table.
My son loved the Van Gogh room and we will definitely be back. Looking forward to sharing more fun and gracious hospitality at the Ground Inn.

  • I had a terrific experience staying with Christopher and Kristin. The newly remodeled, redecorated rooms are beautiful, clean and conveniently located right downtown. I loved the fireplace and the on-demand hot water for tea. The other guests were respectful and enjoyable. The best part was the hospitality and excellent breakfast! Thanks for a great stay, I will definitely be seeing you next time I am in Olympia.
