Charles is great! The room was absolutely beautiful and we couldn't ask for a more generous host. Definitely a must stay if looking for affordable rooms around Kona.
The place was as advertised--funky and simple. Down a side road and off the beaten path but close to a good restaurant. Teshima's. Great location with a splendid view of the ocean. This place is not for everyone. Very rustic. Bathroom and shower outside the room. Cabin is very small, but with TV and internet. Chuck was very accommodating. He gave us a beer on arrival, then gave us a tour of the property. In the morning Chuck made wonderful coffee and whacked open a papaya from a nearby tree. Chuck's been around the area for a long time and knows what's what. Plus he has semi-wild donkeys on the property and a great dog and cat.
We had a great time staying here. The cabin we stayed in was on a beautiful plot with an amazing view. Chuck has some really cool and friendly animals that were fun to play with. He has an insane farm that has some coffee, mango, macadamia, papaya and lots of other things growing. Chuck is one the nicest, most interesting person I have ever met.
Beautiful location! Great host. He is very nice and helpful. Touring his land was pretty cool.
Chuck was very welcoming with his space. I had a bit of trouble finding it as there isn't a street sign, but Chuck answered when I called, gave very clear directions and came out to meet me. Nice neighborhood; the cabins are nestled right in the coffee trees. I got to be the first person to stay in his newly constructed cabins and they are very nice! I didn't have a whole lot of time to hang out, but it was great chatting with Chuck in the morning and drinking his delicious coffee while taking in the great views. I wish I had more time to go out on his boat!
Chuck was a very welcoming host, his property was beautiful and the new cabins he is building are going to be incredible. Cool location right in the middle of coffee farms and close to kona boys surf shack and the beach. Accommodations are currently modest and shared but you get what you pay for, all in all a positive experience.
