My lovely 2 bedroom apartment is less than 1 mi. from UofH (walkable & bikeable), and less than 2 mi. from TSU (bikeable or a nice healthy walk). And just over 2 mi. to Downtown Houston. It's close to everything!
Available for rent as a 1 bedroom or as the whole place. ..
This apartment is furnished.
Living room, full kitchen & bedrooms are all set up & there's lots of art on the walls. 1st bedroom has a queen bed & 2nd bedroom has a full size (pillowtop - yay).
The building is a 1950's (or possibly 60's) style 4-plex at the end of a dead end street with private parking. It's got new(ish) windows, which means the ac kicks butt, very necessary in the Houston heat!!
It's very private, there's a small front porch where I often eat breakfast and listen to birds.
I just love it here, but this is not a place for someone who wants a new condo with all the newest amenities. I am an artist, and my apartment reflects that.
This place reminds me of my old apt in Chicago but Texas sized. I love it and you will too. Hardwood floors, tile bath, lots of light in every room
Also, the neighborhood is growing. There are several markets & grocery stores nearby, several of the best thrift stores in the city are within 2 miles, for any thrifters. The BEST bacon in the city is sold at the matamoros up the street from my apartment. Bohemians is a great coffee shop, art/music venue is just a few blocks away.!
I don't own a TV, I do own quite a few movies for your laptop tho. Oh & CDs from the 90's, I've got plenty of them for listening too, if you like that sort of thing. Not sure why that's worth mentioning, it's just random. Ha. I also have lots of spices and cooking utensils, my preference of hobby is cooking not sitting around on the couch. lol.
I keep a clean house, and like people who can help keep it that way.
Public transit (buses & soon the train) are all within walking distance only abt a block to the closest bus stop.
You can rent this to 1-4 people, depending on your situation, of course. I stay by myself, but there is plenty of space for 2 or more.
Thank you for your interest!!

Thank you Shina we had a great stay at your apt.
All the best!
Shina's great. She stayed in communication when I stayed there for a month, even though she was abroad. She was responsive and always wanted to make sure I was comfortable in the place. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at another place of Shina's in the future.
Our stay at Shina's was easy. Her description of the apartment is spot on. She was fast to respond to any questions and arriving and departing were convenient.
Needed a location nearby for my visiting in-laws. Very nice place, quiet and secure. Shina made check-in and out easy.
If you're just looking for a place to hang your hat and you're not worried about any bells and whistles, then this is the place for you. Shina's place is comfortable, but lacks amenities you may be used to. The neighbors are eclectic, and there is a Mexican market within walking distance. Everything you need seems to be within 10 miles of this place. I've been to a couple shopping malls, a Walmart and a Target, as well as being close to the Medical Center district where I work. Houston has a Metro rail that can take you to the zoo, Museum district, and aquarium. Shina was quick to respond to questions and to provide info as needed.
Shina's apartment was just as described! Cute, arty & comfortable. When we first walked it was pretty hot but after about an hour the air con kicked in & was a appreciated relief from the Houston heat. We had a car so found the location very good, a 7 minute drive to down town & close to the freeway. The shower had great water pressure & the rooms were nice & big to lay out & sort through our luggage.
Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Shina but she was great - replying promptly to all of our messages & enquiries as well as offering to help out with finding out way around Houston. I also got to speak with Shina on the phone a few times and she sounded bubbly, chilled and easy going. Check in & out was very simple. The only reason I dropped a star was because we couldn't get onto the wifi, but all in all a great stay! Thanks Shina!
