Kayakers and small sailboats sailing from the HMB yacht club. Fishing boats going out to sea, a small fishing pier, the wide open ocean, the fresh ocean air, and the rise and fall of the tide. We are on the coastal trail, great for biking and walking.

Old growth Redwood forest hikes are a 30 minute drive. Kayak/wetsuit rentals a 5 min walk, surfboard/boogie board/wetsuit rental a 5 min drive. Fishing boat tours and the fishing pier is a 5 min walk, horseback riding rentals a 5 min drive.

On the second story, nestled on the side of the house, this room is creek side and ocean front with windows facing both. • As always, had a wonderful, comfortable stay. The Meads are great hosts, and I highly recommend Half Moon Bay Seahouse.

  • Our hosts were very sweet and accommodating. They were full of advice about the area and their dog was laid back. The only thing that was difficult for us was getting used to the distant foghorn but playing some light music at night was a quick fix :) The entire house was spotless and welcoming and the view (practically private beach) is unbeatable. There are a few restaurants within walking distance and our host gave use great directions to the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve. We look forward to coming again!

  • Beautiful room, wonderful location, fabulous hosts.

Room was very clean, airy & bright. Great location with the stream and harbor just outside the window, several restaurants within walking distance, the harbor beach to walk on and cliffs over the ocean about a 20 minute walk away. I never had to use my car, and I felt very safe going around alone as a woman there on my own. Room 1 was booked by two different couples when I was there, but the rooms are very private.

Also love the claw foot bathtub, which also has an overhead shower.

H & M made me feel very welcome. I whole-heartedly recommend the Seahouse!

  • H&M is a fabulous place. Quite and excellent view right on harbor. Host are friendly and pleasant. If you are looking for a room where you can fall asleep listening to the waves roll in and out this is the place. If you want TV internet and activity this is not the place. Will be back another time!

  • Mike and Harriet were geat hosts - very welcoming. The room is lovely and overlooks the harbour with a nice breakfast place nearby on the waterfront. A very restful stay and I would definitely return.

  • Was in HMB for a wedding at the Oceano. I am so happy I stayed at the Seahouse. Right across the river from where I needed to be, a bright, very clean room, great views, and gracious hosts. Unlike some B&B's, there was no curfew (just a reasonable set of "quiet hours"), and I was able to have a late checkout. Being right next to the harbor, it was lovely to be lulled to sleep by the waves and foghorn, and to wake up up to see the mountains with the fog coming over them. If I am able to make it back to Half Moon Bay again, I hope I can stay here again as the price and location can't be beat and I'd love to explore the nearby beaches and hiking trails.

  • Mike and Harriet are wonderful hosts. We had a very brief stay at the Seahouse, but we loved every minute of it. The location is absolutely perfect, and Mike and Harriet made us feel very comfortable right away. I can't express how wonderful it was to stay here. I just wish I had more time to visit with the hosts. I'm pretty sure I'll be booking the Seahouse anytime I need to stay in the area.

  • Great place to stay! The location can't be beat--the house is right on the water and practically has its own beach at low tide. Very quick walks to hiking on the bluffs above Mavericks, or down the street for food. Warm and cozy house, hosts very accommodating and are perfectly happy to chat or give space. FYI, there's no TV in the room, but there is wifi. Just let them know if you want it past 10 pm if you want to watch a movie or something. All in all, nice place for a quick getaway.

  • We had a very sweet--if all too brief--stay at Mike and Harriet's. Their home is all about Location Location Location! A quick descent to the beach just beyond the house leads you to a view of Half Moon Bay's inner harbor, along with the wildlife--in our case we traced the slow progress of a heron stalking through the water. The house was clean, bright and with ample views, and M&H were very friendly and helpful. We hope to come back again--for longer next time!

  • we had a gloomy rainy weekend stay. the room brought the sunshine, the birds were in the creek and ocean, life all around. the fire was blazing, and we had a great time. we filled all three rooms with friends. I highly recommend that. Makes a great weekend. We left the cars in the driveway and walked everywhere. Good food and cute shops around. Must check out the Nest on Broadway if you are there. The hosts are the tops. Really know how to provide company and keep out of your way. no idea how they know the right times, but they do! really worth the visit.

We are coast loving people. We, Harriet and Mike have lived on the coast for about twenty years and have five grown daughters, three of which we raised in this house. Mike is a kayak instructor and certified alchemical hypnotherapist, while Harriet is a health practitioner. For fun.....We walk on the beach every day and we love the weather, be it sunny or foggy. We love the ocean and regularly get in it, either on a kayak or a boogie board. The new water sport Harriet is excited to try is stand-up paddle boarding. When we go on vacation, we take more road trips than flights and tend to stay on the coast. Mike plays bass guitar and we both like flamenco music. We have a little dog (don't tell him he's little), who is part jack russel and blue heeler. He is older now and much more quiet. Lately we have been enjoying the Pie Ranch Barn Dance. Its a little rowdy, a lot of fun and anyone can go.We are very friendly and we welcome you to utilize our wealth of information of the area. We also appreciate the retreat and solitude that this natural setting can offer.
