Let me tell you...if your looking for the quintessential California beach town/coastal experiance, look no further.
Situated about a 30 minute drive down the coast from the city of San Francisico (and i can tell you that 30 mile drive down world famous highway 101 is SPECTACULAR) as it hugs the coastline offering stuning views of the pacific ocean.
From the moment i arrived both Mike and Harriet where the consumate Airbnb hosts, made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. The house itself is located on the beach and walking distance to the town itself (marina, cafe's, restaurants, and the best bakery/coffee shop), is a gem. Each room including the common areas tastefully decorated, and comfortably inviting. The views and ambiance...to die for.
I would not only recommend this place to my friends and family...I would advise it, and the next time i'm in the San Francisco area, i'm coming back!
Thank you so much, peace and love, Scott
My family rented all three available rooms as we were in town for a wedding. Very comfortable home. It is outside of downtown but there is a great bike path It took me 30 minutes to ride leisurely to town There are restaurants within walking distance that we do not take advantage of as we were doing the wedding thing. We did use the host kitchen to make coffee each morning. There was a part of the refrigerator where we could store our food. We did have breakfast there one morning. I loved hanging out and relaxing on the deck overlooking the water. At night, we slept with the doors open and could hear the ocean. You can also hear the foghorn but it is very regular so it got lost in the background for me. Beds were comfy, nice bathrooms, good bedside lights for reading at night. H & M were both welcoming and friendly. Easy parking.
The room is exactly what I have seen online. It was a cozy and clean place with separate rest room. The host is very hospitable and helpful with our trip along highway 1. He introduced us the red wood forest and gave us some other tour information. We like the place very much. It is a nice place where you can walk to the beach to see sunset.
Everything was lovely and Mike and Harriet were very warm and welcoming. The view was terrific and the sound of the waves was marvelous. Unfortunately, there was also the consistent sound of the foghorn. At first I wasn't sure what the noise was, so I asked Harriet. She said it bothers some people but that more people find it soothing. Alas, I was not able to find it soothing. It did not ruin my stay but it was a distraction. If you are the type who is un-soothed by that type of background noise, this might not be ideal accommodation.
I don't typically stay in a room in a house via Airbnb, as I tend to want quiet and privacy, but the picture of the view from the desk was so enchanting (I planned to get a lot of work done) and the price was right so I gave it a try. I will likely stick with private homes but that's more about me than the place.
Finally, Mike made an effort to have my room ready early and said I could check out late as there was no one staying in my room that night but I was sadly unable to take advantage of either kind offer.
The room, the house, the scene, just perfect and beautiful. Safe neighbor, welcoming host, convenient parking! Too bad was only one night. Miss the place very much!
We felt very welcome, and the room looked exactly as pictured. Beautiful views of the ocean, walking distance from great food places & the famous Mavericks beach.

About the Host, .. H + M
We are coast loving people. We, Harriet and Mike have lived on the coast for about twenty years and have five grown daughters, three of which we raised in this house. Mike is a kayak instructor and certified alchemical hypnotherapist, while Harriet is a health practitioner. For fun.....We walk on the beach every day and we love the weather, be it sunny or foggy. We love the ocean and regularly get in it, either on a kayak or a boogie board. The new water sport Harriet is excited to try is stand-up paddle boarding. When we go on vacation, we take more road trips than flights and tend to stay on the coast. Mike plays bass guitar and we both like flamenco music. We have a little dog (don't tell him he's little), who is part jack russel and blue heeler. He is older now and much more quiet. Lately we have been enjoying the Pie Ranch Barn Dance. Its a little rowdy, a lot of fun and anyone can go.We are very friendly and we welcome you to utilize our wealth of information of the area. We also appreciate the retreat and solitude that this natural setting can offer.
