The bedroom that we rented at Michael and Harriet's home in Half Moon Bay was just what we were looking for. Out of the hustle and bustle of San Francisco in a tranquil location on the harbor --- and still a quick drive to the San Francisco airport in the morning for our flight. After a week in Napa/Sonoma and San Francisco we spent the final two nights of our trip in Half Moon Bay -- and drove down to Big Sur, taking in the coastal views. The home had a fantastic view -- sitting right on the bay, our bed was comfy, room was clean (and had a great view of the boats from the desk!), the bathroom was clean -- we couldn't have asked for more. Our hosts were pleasant and welcoming and all went off without a hitch! While the kitchen and living areas were available to us, we pretty much just came in at bedtime and took off in the mornings, so we didn't really use the home as a place to hang out -- but we were welcomed to do so if we had wanted to.
Mike and Harriet made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. They gave us a quick tour of the house, and made sure we had everything we needed. Mike even offered to make a fire in the fire pit that evening, but unfortunately we had to be in bed early so we couldn't take advantage of it. The location of their home was very convenient to several restaurants and the harbor, and the beach was literally in their front yard. The next time I'm in Half Moon Bay, I will definitely plan on staying with Mike and Harriet again.
Mike was extremely welcoming, friendly and such a wonderful host. The room was very clean, very peaceful and comfortable. What a special place! Mike had loads to share about the area, the best places to eat, the best places to hike and you can tell he really has a love for their little spot on the harbour. Would highly recommend a stay in Half Moon Bay at this special little spot!
Wonderful place and wonderful people. I wish we could stay for longer. I could stay again without doubt
We were loved so much by Harriet and Mike, that nearly stayed for ever! :)
The place was beautiful, comfortable, clean and sunny. With Mikes instruments we could have a little singalong by the fire on the patio. The house is by the most spectacular settings of beaches. In the neighborhood there are plenty of restaurants with delicious menus. And the possibility of lots of outdoor activities like hiking, biking, sailing, kayaking, surfing, etc.
We recommend they place for everyone! :)
Had a great time here! I was in HMB for a friend's wedding and instead of staying in a boring hotel, for the same price my girlfriend and I were able to have a coastal view, as well as fantastic service.
We ended up in HMB earlier than expected, but They let us check in an hour earlier, which was just so nice.
Great people, great hosts, great location!

About the Host, .. H + M
We are coast loving people. We, Harriet and Mike have lived on the coast for about twenty years and have five grown daughters, three of which we raised in this house. Mike is a kayak instructor and certified alchemical hypnotherapist, while Harriet is a health practitioner. For fun.....We walk on the beach every day and we love the weather, be it sunny or foggy. We love the ocean and regularly get in it, either on a kayak or a boogie board. The new water sport Harriet is excited to try is stand-up paddle boarding. When we go on vacation, we take more road trips than flights and tend to stay on the coast. Mike plays bass guitar and we both like flamenco music. We have a little dog (don't tell him he's little), who is part jack russel and blue heeler. He is older now and much more quiet. Lately we have been enjoying the Pie Ranch Barn Dance. Its a little rowdy, a lot of fun and anyone can go.We are very friendly and we welcome you to utilize our wealth of information of the area. We also appreciate the retreat and solitude that this natural setting can offer.
