The Space

This summer (and spring and autumn) house is a real retreat on the second biggest yet undiscovered Greek island of Eubea. It is 150 km from Athens( by car + ferry boat) or 210 km (by car, crossing the Chalkis bridge) .It is situated on the slope of a small hill, it is surrounded by pine trees and has a wonderful view. It is 80 meters away from the sea. There are no discos, restaurants or coffee shops around, the beach is sandy and very quiet. It is 13 km away from Edipsos, a famous spa city known from antiquity. During your stay, you can visit the Thermae Sylla Spa considered by Conde Nast Traveller England one of the top Medical Spas in the World (www.thermaesyllahotel) and try different types of treatment. The village Gialtra, where you can find most of the basic shops plus a pharmacy, is on the top of the hill, within walking distance (10 to 15 minutes).
The house itself is 70 sq.m., it is furnished with taste but has no particular amenities. It is the ideal place for people who want to live for sometime in simplicity and enjoy nature, hiking (the place is surrounded by forests), swimming (the sea is very safe, as it is a small gulf) or surfing. Since this is a property offering an alternative way of life during one's vacation, there is no television but there is wi fi connection if you choose to stay in contact with civilization A car is necessary! The house is composed of a living room with two balconies and an open kitchen, and two bedrooms(one with a double and one with twin beds). There is one bathroom with shower box. There are screens at all the windows and ventilators in the bedrooms.

  • The view from the balcony across the bay is the best view ever! You can sit there for hours just watching the boats and the birds and butterflies go by..
Or you can relax in the hammock. :) If you walk a couple of minutes you can lay on the beach, where you will probably be alone or only see a few people, and swim in the clear blue and calm sea. At night you can drive to a beach side restaurant and have fresh grilled fish with a good glass of wine and a greek salad.
The island is beautiful, very green! In short everything you need for a very relaxing vacation..! We did not want to leave this place it is so good!!!

  • Although it has been a long time since our stay at Roula's place the memories are still vivid! It has been 6 lovely and relaxing days and nights! The house, the sea are still in our heart and minds!
Roula and her family were excellent and very communicative hosts! Thank you again, and hope to be able to do it again!!!

  • This is an absolutely extraordinary place. We had a wonderfull holiday sitting in the breeze on the balcomy enjoying the spectacular, swimming in the crystal clear water or making little trips in the area that has so much to offer. There is very little international tourism in the area and we would never have had acces to it if it wasn't for airbnb. We loved it and we will be back!

On top of the fanstastic location Roula is the nicest person who made us feel su much at home. She welcomed us with a big basket full of local delicacies, she gave us lots of advices about what to experience in the area and was in general really nice to talk to.

  • It was my second stay in Roula's house within one year which by itself speaks for the charme of this place. I don't have very much to add to my first description except that this time even the weather in late September was excellent during my whole stay. Roula was as charming and helpful as ever, so everything was perfect. Thanx Roula, and see you in Berlin!

  • It was a delightful holiday in a little paradise. The pictures of the house shown on the website are true to reality, even a little less : beautiful view, really nice furnishing, everything you need (sunshade etc). Roula, who speaks perfect english and french, welcomed us warmly and we really felt at home. The beach is really near, quiet (sometimes we were alone, in August !) and nice. Perfect for our little boy - a great place to stay for families.

  • Nous avons été enchanté de notre séjour chez Roula. La maison est très bien équipée, idéalement située à deux pas d'une superbe petite plage.
C'est un très bel endroit, très authentique, qui conviendra aux amateurs de farniente.

  • The views of the bay of Gialtra are even more wonderful than the images posted by Roula here on the site. I enjoyed the breathtaking sunrises, with rest of the family still fast asleep.

The sandy beach was great, we especially loved the part at the little tower at the hook of the bay.

It was such a pleasure to stay in Roula's beautiful house.

  • Absolutely fabulous quiet, green, peaceful place close to a marvelous and clear sea. Tastefully decorated, charming house with a perfect terrace with lots of shade. We were surprised how green the island of Evia is with its forests, mountains and rivers. The perfect destination for biking, hiking, swimming or for doing very little.
    Thank you!

  • I stayed at the house for 9 days in September 2011. It completely matched the description given and it was perfect for me, being absolutely quiet during day and night. The house is simply yet tastefully and comfortably furnished, has a beutiful view over the bay and is in a very charming surrounding. The Island Evia does not have archaeological sites like Delphi or Olympia but the landscape and the views from almost everywhere are overwhelming. Tourism - at least in September - is low and everybody seems quite relaxed. Roula and her family are extremely friendly and lovable people. They did everything possible to make my stay a very pleasing one. I'll be back!
