Casita Loma Linda is a cozy house which features the same stunning views as the big house.
It has all the amenities: kitchenette with 4 flame gas burner, microwave, refrigerator, one bedroom and garden with fruit trees, above smog and city noise!
Welcome to Oaxaca!
Oaxaca City is located in a high valley of the Sierra Madre in Southern Mexico at 4800ft. above sea level. The climate is stable with temperatures around 27°C(80.6°F) throughout the year. It is a colonial city with many attractions, i.e. colonial architecture, colorful markets, indigenous culture, world famous cuisine, handicrafts, arts and galleries and a large variety of cultural activities.
For your stay in Oaxaca our Casita Loma Linda provides a perfect home. It is located in the quiet and secure northern part of Oaxaca City and at the same time is close to the Zocalo (plaza) and the historical center.
By car or taxi it takes 10 minutes to get to the zocalo, by bus 20 minutes and walking about 40-50 minutes. The distance is about 2.2 miles.
The casita is available to rent for days, weeks as well as several months and provides enough comfortable space for up to 2 people. It is equipped with wireless DSL internet connection, so that you can just hook up your computer and stay in touch with the world when you need to.
The fully equipped casita includes:
1 bedroom with double bed, closet, chair in the upstairs apartment,
1 bathroom with shower, hot and cold water, toilet 1 kitchenette/dining room and porch with sofa
The kitchenette is equipped with:
- blender, coffee maker, microvawe, bar size refridgerator, orange juicer, 4 flame top gas burner
The casita has a terrace with the same beautiful panoramic view as the main house.
We are always available for further questions about the many details relevant to your stay in Oaxaca like car rentals, sightseeing, tours, etc...
You have access to the whole house and garden.
Actually you receive the keys and during your stay you are the only people who have access to the house. The garden is shared with the people living in the big house. Car parking in front of the house on the street is safe!
Interaction with Guests
Depends of whether we are there or not and as requested.
Very quiet and safe middle to upper middle class neigborhood above smog and city noises but at the same time close to historical center and zocalo.
Yes, there are little motorikshas, 6 Pesos p.p. that take you from the bus stop to the doorstep of the Casita. The buses are going to the center from the Oxxo on Camino a San Felipe (5 minutes walk downhill) and charge 6 Pesos as well. Taxis are very reasonable and charge 50 Pesos to the center.
Other Things to Note
Some people have difficulties finding the house, so I recommend to make an appointment with the house manager at a nearby wellknown place, like the Fuente de las Siete Regiones or Oxxo. From there it is only 2 minutes to the house.
The casita is situated in a quiet and safe neighborhood and we have put a lot of love and care into it. Please treat house and garden as if they were your own: do not smoke inside, don't allow pets into the bedrooms and please replace the things you break. If something does not work or has broken please let the house management know immediately so they can take action! Thank you and we hope to be able to make your stay as pleasant, relaxing and enjoyable as possible.
Y no hubo ningún problema.
Es un lugar muy bueno para descansar y un buen punto de partida. Muy recomendable.
Thank you so much Tamara! What a lovely space! Very comfortable and clean with an awesome view of Oaxaca city.
Tamara is such a warm and open soul and was so helpful with any questions and we even spent a day together visiting one of the local ruins Monte Alban.
I would definitely recommend it for anybody visiting Oaxaca, its great!
we enjoyed our stay at loma linda in oaxaca, everything is as described, the house is comfortable and the view amazing. we were very busy while we were there so didnt see much of tamara and shanti but they were great hosts and very responsive to our needs. if you are happy to be away from the centre of town this is a great place to stay.
We had a wonderful time in Oaxaca. Tamara had a great little spot. However, we did incur a few problems:
After twelve hours of traveling, we arrived at casa Loma Linda to no toilet paper, no towels (save for a used dish towel in the kitchen), dirty sheets on the upstairs bed, and only a moldy and ungodly stained mattress cover on the downstairs bed with only a single pillow between the two beds. Also, despite walking all around the property we were never able to locate the internet network she left in her instructions. With no Internet access or phone, we were unable to contact Tamara or Rodrigo (the house manager) about our less than desirable conditions.
Since, Tamara was not personally around to oversee the property before our arrival, i felt it only fair to give her an opportunity to respond. Though she wrote back, she was less than apologetic and did nothing about the cleaning fee we were charged, though the house clearly was not cleaned.
Three days into our visit, the housekeeper showed up, and the rest of our stay at Casa Loma Linda was enjoyable.
We are happy that Jennifer enjoyed her stay at Casa Loma Linda. Unfortunately she informed us about the problems that she encountered too late. She sent an email exactly one month after leaving Casa Loma Linda Oaxaca. This was obviously far too late to take action.
I thought the water pressure was great, and unlike many other places I've been, the water was good and HOT!! Plenty of water for two consecutive showers, no waiting, no problems. The garden is lovely and lots of birds visit in the morning. Having the kitchen space was a real advantage for us.
The bungalow is great for two people. The view is spectacular! If you leave the window curtains open you will be awakened by beautiful sunrises over the mountains north of Oaxaca. Because of the elevation, there was a breeze even when downtown Oaxaca was hot and still. The hill is indeed "San Francisco steep" if you drive, but it's a pleasant walk down the hill to catch a taxi or the public buses to town. The walk back up the hill is intense, but good exercise (or take a taxi for about $5 US). Tamara was very helpful and responsive. The house is a bit difficult to find, especially if you try to use on-line maps, but Tamara's friend drove down to meet us and led us to the house when we got lost. We had a great stay in Oaxaca.
The place is lovely, in a quiet residential neighborhood, up on a hill. It's space enough for a family with children, or two couples, with enough privacy for both. Tamara's friend picked us up from the bus station and was always ready to help. It's far from the city center, but if you're ready to use the (cheap) public transport, you will enjoy the peace of your own "pyramid" to climb at the end of each lively day in Oaxaca. Plus, the sunrise from Loma Linda is the most stunning view, worth waking up for.
