we are really sorry that you did not feel comfortable in our apartment. As you can see in other reviews, 99,9% of our guests are very satisfied with the service that we provide.Thank you for your feedback, let us address your complaints - we will use them to improve so it never happens to the next renters.

1. Your comment: We arrived only to find out they we needed a code, which the "host" had not provided. It took about thirty minutes to get in contact with the "host" and get the code to open the door.

What happened: you booked the apartment in the evening, less than 24 hours before your arrival. Your reservation came in on Sun, May 24, 2015 at 6:40 PM. We were in touch with you from the very beginning. The code was sent to you with the detailed reservation confirmation by e-mail on Mon, May 25, 2015 at 1:34 AM. Moreover, we arranged a transfer from the airport by our partner driver for a very special price for you - 15 euros instead of 29, to simplify your first minutes in Prague.
It seems you did not receive the email with the code. We have the proof that we sent it, though -I will just re-send it right now so you can see. I assume it went into your spam.

What we will do to prevent this: in Airbnb directions and descriptions, we will describe step-by step our process including “You must get a reservation confirmation by email including the code to enter the apartment”.

2. Your comment: Regarding the "host", yes we are a company and what is written in "About the Host, Vladka" : "Hi, we are a company that manages private apartments in Prague...Our professional team speaks about 8 languages and is available 24/7 to assist you with the apartment."
We could not be clearer than that. If you have preferences on the host profile, we do encourage you to read the host’s profile before you book.

2. Your comment: When we walked inside, we were met with a table full of laminated sheets. These were clearly standard sheets that the "host" left at all of the properties that she owned.
Yes, and as you can see in other reviews other renters are very happy to have the informations that we provide in our apartments (about Prague, parking, supermarkets, shops, restaurants, bars etc. in the neighborhood):
“Furthermore, in the apartment were maps and tips about the neighborhood and what there was to do.” (Mats Ravensbergen)

4. Your comment: There were all sorts of rules and threats of fines that are not listed on the Airbnb website.
What happened: There are the same house rules that are listed in detail also on Airbnb website in "House Rules". Okay, the fine for smoking was not mentioned in Airbnb house rules- we just wrote there that it is forbidden to smoke because the apartment is non smoking, so what would you expect if you leave an apartment stinking with smoke?
What we will do to prevent this:
We will make sure all fines are listed on Airbnb and consistent with what is written in the apartments. That being said, decent renters need not be afraid. The reality is that we fined two renters this year (as of June 2015). One group that climbed on the roof drunk, broke tiles and threw bottles in the courtyard, threatening the lives of other inhabitants. And one renter that woke up a whole building because he was terribly drunk, lost his key to the building, woke up the whole building to get in at 3am instead of contacting his friends or us. We used the fine to buy wine for the neighbors. And yes, we plan on being stricter with heavy fines on those who smoke in spite of the non smoking rules - because it is so unpleasant for the next renters that we have to move them to other apartments. Our advice to smokers is to choose one of our many apartments with access to balconies.

5. Your comment: Additionally, the apartment is listed as a place for 7 yet there are only three single beds and two futons.
What happened: As we wrote in the description, apartment Masaryk is recommend for 3-5 persons, but can comfortably accommodate up to 7 persons. It is described in detail in "Description - The Space", same as Bedding. Here is the description that was there when you reserved:

What we will do better in the future:
We will emphasize even more in apartment descriptions that potential renters can check the floor plan that we always provided in apartment pictures- we believe it is the best way to visualize bedding and room layout.
We will stick to our policy of giving renters a broad choice of how many of them will stay in the apartment. Obviously, if they choose to be less they get more space, if they choose to fill the apartment to the max they get more value as our price stays the same.

6. Your comment: The wifi was horrible to non-existent

What happened: We went back to the apartment door and measured 5MB/s download and a strong wifi signal (we have the screenshots to prove it), which is even enough to stream Netflix movies. While it is not the fastest of our apartments, it is the fastest available in the historical building through ADSL.

What we will do better in the future: We will test possibilities of mobile connection to get faster, and we will try to include samples of speed measurement in apartment descriptions.

7.Your comment: the windows open directly to the train tracks and the apartment is loud throughout the night.
What happened: Yes, there are a tram tracks (not train tracks- trams do not make as much noise as a train…) in front of the building, and it is perfectly visible on the building pictures that we posted.
Apartment Masaryk is situated on the 3rd floor of the historical building (it means in the high of 4th floor in reality), so it is quite calm when the windows are closed. Prague is a beautiful city, but as in all capitals, the city center is busy, so not all apartments are great to sleep with open windows.
What we will do better in the future: in apartment descriptions, we will try to feature a summary of the minuses of each apartment - so that for example people very sensitive to noise will choose an apartment that is only on the courtyard side without any windows on the street side.

8. Your comment: Worst of all, on the second day of our stay, we received a message letting us know that a maintenance man would be coming to replace a window. I responded that I was not comfortable leaving my valuables, knowing that someone would be in the apartment while I was out in the town. When we came home, the shades on the window were open, the man had clearly been inside our house yet the host messaged us back saying that they would not send the technician.

What happened: We are very sorry we did a poor job of communicating this, but it was an emergency - the window glass was shattered, and threatened to hurt someone if it finally broke and fell 4 floors below. According to Czech law, you and us could have been held responsible for the maiming of a kid. This is why the whole thing was organized in such a hurry. But the contractors were let in only in the presence and under the watch of one of our technicians, who has been with us for years without any problem, so your belongings were not endangered. And what our teammate wrote was that it will not happen again, not that it did not happen.

What we will do better in the future: We re-emphasized to our technicians the obvious- no entering the apartment without renter’s consent, unless it is an emergency (gas leak, flooding, etc. ) . And we emphasized to the team that if it happens, they have to clearly inform you of the nature of the emergency. Luckily for all, this was exceptional.
