Soak up the view during your stay.
The historic Regent neighborhood where my comfortable and esthetically pleasing 1930s home is located is a walk from the UW campus and Camp Randall stadium and many of the city's major hospitals and parks. The house retains many period amenities but with a newly remodeled and spacious kitchen. Madison is a compact, lively diverse city and staying on this stretch of Kendall Avenue ("Bike Boulevard") puts you within easy reach of all MadCity has to offer from a quiet and restorative home base.

The space
This is a lovely fully restored 1930s home aglow in burnished wood and lush wall colors. I've enhanced the era feel by adorning the walls with my collection of rare period Yiddish theater and movie posters and framed photos of my great uncle Tenen Holtz, a silent movie star. The kitchen is stocked with plenty of pots and pans, good knives and space and light to make a great meal. All the cups, plates and bowls -- plus some of the ceramic art adorning the walls -- comes from the renowned American potter Bill Campbell, an old pal. The seasonal screen porch is yours to enjoy way into the cooler months while the deck adjacent to the upstairs bedroom serves the warmer months. All in all, a calming and uplifting space for you when you're in Madison.

Guest access
My guests will have access to the first and second floors of the house (save my office on the second floor). Help yourself to coffee and granola bars in the kitchen. I'll provide a gift card for a bagel and cream cheese at the local bagel shop (if you are an aficionado of either New York or Montreal bagels then you know I use the word "bagel" here in describing what you can get in Madison very loosely.) The fireplaces cannot be used at this time, I'm sorry. Upstairs balcony accessed by the master bedroom with two relaxing chairs, enjoy your morning coffee up in the air! Note that the full bathroom is on the second floor. There's a new 1/2 bath on the main floor, just off of the kitchen. There is no microwave, or TV, recycling is mandatory.

Other things to note
I ask that people not wear street shoes or smoke in the house.
Before leaving, please strip beds of sheets and pillowcases, and toss those and used towels (not blankets, pillow protectors, or mattress pads--unless they're dirty) down the laundry chute. Please take out the garbage and recycling (outside the kitchen window). Please lock the front door when you leave and put the key back in the lock box (code 2021). Please give a shout after you've left. Thank you!
