About this listing
Beautifully renovated two bedroom cottage that is registered with the City of Austin and not subject to any hostile moves by code compliance (kicking out guests, fining owners $2000 a day, etc)
The pics and testimonials tell the story, come stay!
Come enjoy our 860+ sqf renovated cottage with a beautiful back yard large covered deck with hot water spa. The cottage is conveniently located to Downtown & the University of Texas in the heart of the East Side. We are right off the Manor Road bus route and about 1.2 miles from UT and 2 miles from Downtown. The house is fully furnished, newly painted and updated, with furniture from Mexico, Austin, and Sweden. The patio and seating area in the courtyard is perfect for a cold beer or glass of vino. There is plenty of parking and the property has a secured gate and lighting system.
The neighborhood was founded in the 40's and offers unique cottage and houses with that old Austin flare, something that has been disappearing lately. Watch out for occasional chicken running around and bike riders, they are everywhere.
The house is perfect for 1-2 people and can fit up to 4. There are two comfy bedrooms with new queen beds. All linens & kitchen appliances are new.
Right around the corner is the happening Manor road district with coffee houses, restaurants, live venues with dedicated bikes lanes to UT and downtown. Directly behind the property is a light rail station which will zip you straight downtown. Come explore by foot or bike, you will be glad you did!

I loved my visit and my stay here! Neat clean and cozy. The deck out back was really peaceful!
Had a great time in Austin despite some serious tornado issues. Heavy rains brought out some water bugs but Robert was all over it. Super close to downtown and cozy rooms with all the amenities of a furnished rental unit. I really liked the style of the place, would recommend it!
The house is in a cute, conveniently-located neighborhood with ample street parking. Our stay, however, started off on an odd note and went downhill from there. A few days prior to our arrival, Robert emailed a page-long document listing all of the extra fees we might incur during our stay (e.g. $25 for mascara on towels, $300 to snake the toilet, etc.). Several minor issues were immediately apparent when we arrived -- the spare keys were not where they were supposed to be, the place was quite dusty, the ceiling lights in the front bedroom flickered on and off, the washing machine was muddy inside, some towels were stained -- but not wanting to be bothersome guests, we let them slide. The deal breaker was finding multiple gigantic cockroaches in the bedroom and kitchen on our last night. Robert was nonchalant about the roaches (he blamed the weather) and refused to work the problem out with us; fortunately, airbnb stepped in at our request and mediated an appropriate solution.
I have been in the rental business for over 3 years now and have 8 rentals in Austin and New Orleans. Most of the time, everything works out great with guests. If there is an issue, I jump on it, and pride myself on taking care of our guests (see ratings). Unfortunately, Rosie did not give us adequate notice of any issues or complaints. We only heard of the bug complaint the day before check out (Sat) and immediately called our Pest Control company. This was a Sat on Memorial Day weekend and they came over the next day around 12 pm (earliest possible) to the tune of $120. Rosie did not call us with regards to these issue alleged issues and did not check out of the rental early We would have been glad to refund her a night if she needed to check out early. None of this happened. She only demanded a monies at her convenience after check out. Furthermore, we have an excellent team of house cleaners and I would have demanded that they go over and help put if told about a dirty house. Again, we did not hear anything with regards to a dirty house until after she checked out. I have let the team know of her complaints and made sure that the issues were dealt with. We just did not find evidence to support Rosie's claims. We had record floods in Austin during Rosie's stay and got hit hard with a few flood bugs. We apologized and tried to explain to Rosie this does not happen and that we spray twice a year. She would not accept any of my explanation and demanded a lot of money after check out. Airbnb agreed to pay her monies and we agreed to allow airbnb reimburse the cleaning fee after bending. I disagreed with the guest and again, my testimonials and ratings tell the story. With regards to sheets, our team uses bleach and checks them at every clenaing, and we have back up sheets and linens if needed. I am not buying Rosie's approach and attempt to grab monies after check out. I am sorry she did not enjoy the house. Communication is everything and we never got one call from her during her stay but rather a somewhat friendly email about a couple of bugs that I addressed. My guess is that Rosie is probably a nice person but handle this situation wrong.
My husband and I escaped the suburbs of Northwest Austin for a quick overnight in East Side Cottage. It and the neighborhood was perfect and had everything we needed! We walked to Happy Hour at In.gredients, headed to Dai Due for dinner, found a bar for an after dinner drink, and finished up the evening in the hot tub.
Great place! Thank you!
Had a great stay! The house was well-appointed, immaculately clean, and comfy cozy. And the back porch / hot tub were a treat. Highly recommended!
This is a lovely spot. We had no trouble getting in using the lockbox, and the place is quite cozy. The hot tub was very nice. I brought my husband and my mother to celebrate my mother's birthday, and it was a great size for my small family.
Robert was the man. Super responsive, helpful, and answered all my questions. Best host!
