The Space

Casa de Mañana, a 3-Bedroom, 2-Bath Villa with PRIVATE POOL, is located in the Pacific Coast region of Guanacaste, Costa Rica in the small beach town of Playa Junquillal (Hoon-kee-jall). Playa Junquillal, although relatively close to many exciting attractions and nightlife, is beautifully remote, quiet and safe. Women and GLBT travelers will feel very welcome visiting here. It is home to approximately 150 permanent residents comprised of both Tico's (locals to Costa Rica) and foreigners alike. Here you will find one of the country's largest and most beautiful untouched beaches surrounded by an incredible landscape and an abundance of wildlife. From Howler Monkeys to parrots, you are sure to see and hear the wonderful sounds of the tropics around every turn.

The house is perfect for 3 couples, small families, or very close friends! The beach, a short 8 minute walk, or 2 minute drive on the beach road is one of the largest stretches of untouched beaches in the country. You can enjoy the sounds of the surf during high tide from the back terrace or yard. The house is beautifully furnished and includes all of the necessary amenities; a full kitchen, Master Bedroom with King bed, 2nd bedroom with double bed, 3rd bedroom with 2 super-twin beds, air conditioning in living area and ALL bedrooms, WIRELESS INTERNET, basic mini-bar (The water here is perfectly drinkable, so you don't have to worry about having to drink warm cocktails with no ice!), beach and bath towels.

The house is only a 1 hour drive from the recently expanded Liberia International Airport (code LIR). It is a 4 1/2 drive from the San Jose International airport, where we typically find the lowest airfare. We provide all of our guests with precise driving instructions to the house from either airport.

We have taken extra precautions to ensure the house is secure while we are out of the country, which also means that our guests can relax and enjoy themselves without being preoccupied with concerns about their valuables in a “foreign country”.

We have immense amounts of information about Costa Rica that we send to all of our guests to provide suggestions on how to ensure you have a wonderful stay. We highly recommend Frommer 's Costa Rica Travel Guide as an excellent resource on how, when and where to travel in Costa Rica. All of our own trips have been formed using this valuable resource, which can be purchased in most local book stores or online. We highly recommend anyone traveling to Costa Rica for the first time buy this book!

All of the travel and adventure suggestions that follow have been experienced personally by the owners of Casa de Mañana and are highly recommended. All of our guests will receive an informational booklet that provides driving instructions to reach each destination mentioned.

There's SO much to do, or nothing to do. It's all up to you and how you want to spend your vacation!

Enjoy breathtaking sunset walks along Playa Junquillal, or jump right in and play in the waves. While you are there be sure to stop at the turtle nesting sanctuary to find out if any turtles are due to hatch during your stay. If your timing is right, you may be lucky enough to witness newly hatched turtles being released into the ocean from the protected hatching area on Playa Junquillal. Truly an amazing experience! Guided night-time Turtle Walks are also a unique experience as you observe turtles who have made their way out of the sea and up the beach to where they intend to lay their eggs, which is in the loose sand beyond the high tide mark. Be sure to look for (but please do not touch!) craters that were dug in the loose sand by egg laying turtles during the night.

A short walk to Playa Blanca (excellent snorkling right from shore!) will bring you to the Leatherback and Olive Ridley and Green Turtle feeding area where you can swim or snorkel with the protected species, or simply watch them from the beach as they rise in the surf. We spot them nearly every time we are there during the high tide. All you have to do is sit on the beach and scan the surf just before the waves break. You can identify the turtles by the size of their heads and bodies as they surface for a breath of air before diving back down for more food. Wait about 2 minutes and you will see the turtle raise again for another breath. Often times we see multiple turtles of different varieties feeding at the same time. Whale watching from the shore line is another amazing experience as they migrate past Playa Junquillal (seasonal). Too relaxed to go snorkeling? Take a walk down Playa Junquillal at low tide to see the many creatures hiding in the tide pools.

Playa Junquillal is also a popular surfing spot as are neighboring Playa Negra and Playa Avellanas, which are only a 15 minute drive from the house. There are several surfing schools near Playa Junquillal as well.
