  • We stayed in this apartment for 6 nights and enjoyed it very much; most importantly it's clean and well kept, has enough space; and it has a nice, spacious balcony, which is a big plus for an apartment in the city . Moreover, the apartment is certainly nicely decorated. Also , the Wifi functioned very good. The neighborhood is rich with cafes and restaurants; but the apartment also has all to cook your own meal /make a coffee. We didn't meet Leslie but Suzanne was a perfect host. I don't think Europeans would perceive this apartment to be a "penthouse" ... but that has been discussed already addition to other visitors' feedback .. (so adjust your expectations; than you'll be fine). Eventough there is some noise from the streets .. e.g. the train over the Williamsburg bridge .. we still enjoyed staying here (mind you .. you're in New York)! We would certainly consider to book this apartment again!

    Response from Leslie:

    Hello Sjaak,
We are happy you had a good stay! We enjoyed hosting you.
You are the second person who has expressed confusion over the term: PENTHOUSE.
The other guest was also not from the U.S.
It seems that while this term is clear to Americans, it is not clear to others.
This is why we have changed the title of our space, and have taken the word 'penthouse' out of the description.
The good news is that out of our hundreds of reviews over the years, we have only had 2 guests mention this as an issue.
We thank you for your feedback, and we hope to host you again!

  • Beautiful apartment in wonderful Williamsburg. Exceptionally clean, spacious and suitable for a few days or much longer. Great location with lots of cool cafes and stores on adjacent streets and all just one stop from the madness of Manhattan.

  • Leslie was very nice and informative about what to do in the area. Loved that I didn't have to go out and get my morning coffee as it was already supplied. Very comfortable place and modern place. Good spot and good location.

  • My family and I had a wonderful stay (four adults and a baby). Clean, bright, spacious, comfortable, warm, friendly neighborhood/street and accessible to the best of Williamsburg. The courtyard entrance served us well, as we had a stroller and could leave it securely at the bottom of the steps. Leslie and Susan are great hosts and extremely easy to communicate with. I would definitely stay here again!

  • Beautiful, minimal and modern apt in Williamsburg. Hosts were great, everything was clean and close to the real Williamsburg.

We would stay here again, hopefully longer next time.

  • My family of 5 stayed quite comfortably in this lovely apartment. It is in a great location with quick access to the Marcy Line and so many wonderful restaurants and shops within walking distance.
All communication with the owners was addressed promptly.
I found this apartment to be correctly described in the AirBnB listing.
I do have a couple of minor suggestions and they are merely personal preferences - I would add an additional mirror somewhere in the apartment (a girl thing) and I would supply wine glasses.

I highly recommend this apartment and would book it again should I come back to this area.

  • Leslie and Susan were excellent in communcation before the trip, and had good informations in the flat. The apartment was warm and spacy, but not cosy at all. The neighbourhood is fantastic - we will come again.
Is it not a penthouse - there is no views and no luxury - but nice and tidy.
We stayed for 9 nights and payed for the cleaning in cash - with the rent and the cleaning fee, there should have been a cleaning during the stay for no cost.

    Response from Leslie:

Hello Niels, We are happy to hear that you liked the area and the flat. It may be a language issue, but when you say the apartment was " not cosy at all,"
we are assuming that you mean it was not small. But if you don't like modern furnishings, then it may not have felt cozy to you. We find the photos accurately reflect the decor. As to the "penthouse" issue-- in the states, a penthouse is an apartment on the top floor of a building. That is exactly what our apartment is! We are sorry you didn't find it luxurious. We feel we furnished it beautifully--full of simple, tasteful, high-end things (so do hundreds of our other guests in their reviews over the years). In Williamsburg, some small studios go for $275/night, and hotel rooms in our area are on average $400 or more a night for a lots less space than our apartment. We charge a cleaning fee for a couple of reasons: 1-the fee itself only covers the cost to pay our cleaning people a living wage, laundry and eco-friendly products. 2-we are able to keep our nightly rate a bit lower this way.
    All of the best,
    Leslie and Susan

  • My 11 year old son and I had a wonderful stay at Leslie's and Susan's well-located apartment. It is extremely comfortable and has everything one may need. I slept very well in the bed, enjoyed the hot showers in the morning and loved the coffee and bagels they kindly provided. Susan and Leslie were incredibly responsive and helpful with all my questions. The area is simply wonderful. Loved all the independent shops and the great variety of restaurants. It makes Manhattan feel slightly dull by comparaison! I would definitely stay there again. Thanks!

  • My girlfriend and I spent 10 days at Leslie's penthouse. We had a wonderful time. The penthouse is awesome, simple, clean, modern, with all the stuff you need, located in a quiet and lovely neighborhood, we felt very safe, and warm despite the snow outside!

It was a real pleasure to come back at the end of each day to this place, giving the fact that we spent our days walking around manhattan in the snow, returning "home" was a special moment every day :)

The communication with Leslie and Susan was really good, from our very first question about the place 6 months ago to our last day there, it was our first airbnb experience so we needed to feel secure and that was the case! Thank you!
