Private apartment in artist's turn of the century house, a few minutes' walk from old city center. The apartment has a bedroom with garden view, living/dining room, kitchenette and bathroom with wc and tiled shower. There is a standard double bed in the bedroom, and the couch in the living/dining room pulls out to make another standard double bed. There is wireless internet, cable tv, dvd player with a selection of films, and radio/cd player. The kitchen has a small refrigerator/freezer, induction cooking plate, combi-oven, espresso machine and other basic equipment.
You can park on the street in front of the house for 6 Euros a day, and there are buses to and from the station or the MECC from a stop 40 meters from the house. You can walk to the old city center, shopping and pedestrian district in 6 or 8 minutes, and there are bakeries, grocery stores and a bicycle shop nearby. Many of the university buildings are also within easy walking distance.
Maastricht is a very pretty small city with wonderful restaurants, lively cafés, and interesting shops - it is a very agreeable place to relax and enjoy the hospitality for which Limburg is famous. The town is situated in what might be termed the Dutch mountains, an area with rolling hills, Flemish castles, and many walking trails - it is also an excellent base for exploring other towns and indeed other countries. Follow the Maas for half an hour to reach Liège, or drive half an hour in another direction to Aachen, Charlemagne's town, where the cathedral has the best mosaics north of Ravenna. The larger cities of Brussels, Antwerp, Düsseldorf and Cologne, each with a distinctive atmosphere and much to offer, are all about an hour from Maastricht. Explore the area and come back to the comfort of your own base, or just enjoy the many possibilities within walking distance - either way you'll have a wonderful time.
It was a very pleasant stay! Very good communication before our stay. The place is very clean and beutifull, on walking distance of Vrijthof and city. Barbara is very friendly and open minded. Breakfast was also included! We enjoyed it very much.
Barbara couldn't have been more helpful. We were captivated by her studio and also by her cat. She had good advice about where to go and what to see, all of which was spot on. We loved the flat and Maastricht was a wonderful place to stay for a few days-so much nicer than a stuffy hotel. We would love to return another time.

We had a wonderful stay in Barbara's apartment! It is bright, clean, warm and well equipped. The city center is within walking distance and there’s easy parking. It’s everything you need!
Barbara provided us with a lot of information on places to visit, amenities, parking, etc. She even had maps and umbrellas for us. She also stocked the fridge with delicious jams and marmalades, and every morning left a bag with freshly baked bread and rolls at the door. A caring host that really makes you feel welcome!
Barbara is a truly wonderful host. She's very sympathetic, friendly and helpful and has a lovely home, close to the city centre. The apartment was spotless, very light and cosy and offered everything you could need. We had a great time and would definitely stay there again!
Barbara was a great host, very kind, and the apartment was wonderful! Very clean and a lot of light. The pictures give a great representation. With great parking and the city center a 10 minute walk away, I highly recommend this apartment.
Our stay at the house of Barbara was really really great!!!
The house, including the apartment is so convincingly beautiful and really well located in/near the center. We loved the view over the garden, the wooden floor(s) and the colors of the interior, the bed was very comfortable just as the shower and everything else.
Barbara is the best host you can imagine and a very inspiring person. She lives and works as an artist in Maastricht and her sculptures (of mostly animals) are numerous, very impressive!
We really wanted to stay longer. We highly recommend this place to anyone who's planning a visit to Maastricht!
My wife, young daughter and I had a lovely stay at Hertogsingel this last week. A very cosy apartment had all we needed and more to make the most of our stay. Barbara is a lovely host, ensuring all our needs were met and made sure we had fresh breads and pastries from the local bakery daily. Would thoroughly recommend if you wish to have easy access to the centre of Maastricht (10 mins walk), comfortable accommodation and a lovely host.

In general: good place to stay in Maastricht!
1 Some good and bad points:
2 Location only 10 minutes by foot to Vrijthof
3 Spacious bathroom, shower ok.
4 Small but well equipped kitchen
5 Wooden floors: Charming but might be noisy with neighbours. It also means less privacy because host or others might hear you walk
6 Clean and spacious appartment for 2
7 Bread in the morning is a great wake-up
