Maastricht star lodging

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Hertogsingel, Maastricht, Limburg 6214, Netherlands

The Space

Private apartment in artist's turn of the century house, a few minutes' walk from old city center. The apartment has a bedroom with garden view, living/dining room, kitchenette and bathroom with wc and tiled shower. There is a standard double bed in the bedroom, and the couch in the living/dining room pulls out to make another standard double bed. There is wireless internet, cable tv, dvd player with a selection of films, and radio/cd player. The kitchen has a small refrigerator/freezer, induction cooking plate, combi-oven, espresso machine and other basic equipment.

You can park on the street in front of the house for 6 Euros a day, and there are buses to and from the station or the MECC from a stop 40 meters from the house. You can walk to the old city center, shopping and pedestrian district in 6 or 8 minutes, and there are bakeries, grocery stores and a bicycle shop nearby. Many of the university buildings are also within easy walking distance.

Maastricht is a very pretty small city with wonderful restaurants, lively cafés, and interesting shops - it is a very agreeable place to relax and enjoy the hospitality for which Limburg is famous. The town is situated in what might be termed the Dutch mountains, an area with rolling hills, Flemish castles, and many walking trails - it is also an excellent base for exploring other towns and indeed other countries. Follow the Maas for half an hour to reach Liège, or drive half an hour in another direction to Aachen, Charlemagne's town, where the cathedral has the best mosaics north of Ravenna. The larger cities of Brussels, Antwerp, Düsseldorf and Cologne, each with a distinctive atmosphere and much to offer, are all about an hour from Maastricht. Explore the area and come back to the comfort of your own base, or just enjoy the many possibilities within walking distance - either way you'll have a wonderful time.

  • My father and I recently spent 3 days at Barbara's wonderful apartment and were so happy we booked this over a hotel. It's as lovely as it's described, large bright living room with an equally sized bedroom, perfectly equipped kitchen area and a nice bathroom. I slept on the pull out double bed that folds away to a sofa during the day with no complaints. The apartment is literally a 5 minute stroll into the centre so ideal location. Though the road is fairly busy the windows are double glazed so no noise issues. One note, be sure to park on same side of the street as the property and not on the opposite side as I initially did but then quickly moved - this is residents only and will result in a costly parking ticket. You only need a ticket from 8am til 7pm and you can then buy another day card (€6) after 7pm for the following day, save you getting up at 8am!
Barbara has lived in the city for 20 years and is incredibly knowledgable on the history of the city, giving us lots of information and some great tips on where to venture.
Special mention to the lovely fresh breakfast breads left outside on our door each morning, they were truly delicious. So good we visited the bakers that's just round the corner and took some home with us. And also the basics found in the fridge on our arrival; butter, eggs, milk and jams. A nice touch greatly appreciated! No hesitation in highly recommending this wonderful owner and her property.

  • We stayed at Barbara's home last weekend and we enjoyed it very much! She was very kind and helpful and provided us with information and delicious breakfast. The appartment was great, very bright and clean and welcoming with books and DVDs, and it was in close walking distance to the places-to-see in Maastricht yet quiet and peaceful. Parking was no problem just in front of the house. We highly recommend staying with Barbara when you are in Maastricht!!

  • Barbara couldn't have been more helpful. We were captivated by her studio and also by her cat. She had good advice about where to go and what to see, all of which was spot on. We loved the flat and Maastricht was a wonderful place to stay for a few days-so much nicer than a stuffy hotel. We would love to return another time.

  • We had a wonderful stay in Barbara's apartment! It is bright, clean, warm and well equipped. The city center is within walking distance and there’s easy parking. It’s everything you need!
Barbara provided us with a lot of information on places to visit, amenities, parking, etc. She even had maps and umbrellas for us. She also stocked the fridge with delicious jams and marmalades, and every morning left a bag with freshly baked bread and rolls at the door. A caring host that really makes you feel welcome!
