A private suite in the basement of our home.
The space is set up for sleeping, lounging, and simple meal prep. There is a kitchenette with a bar frig, freezer, microwave, toaster oven, kettle, crockpot and coffee maker. We just added a safe cooktop, so you should be able to prepare just about any meal that you'd like! Most of our guests stay for about a month and are happy with these amenities.

Whether you're in town for business or pleasure, our space is the perfect launching or landing pad. But we'll warn you in advance, if you're taller than 6' (180cm), the ceiling may be too low for you.
We are close to Greektown, The Beach, Little India and our neighbourhood has great cafes, bakeries, pizza, and Thai food. The best Ethiopian restaurants in the city are one subway stop or a 20 minute walk at Coxwell & Danforth.
Before hopping on the subway for a long day of touring T.O. you can grab some of the best croissants in the city at Celena's Bakery, and across the street, Caketown has GF options.
Our neighbourhood is buzzing with new development but still one of the friendliest neighbourhoods in the city. But don't take our word for it. Come stay with us and experience life with us 'locals' before you head out for an awesome visit in the T-Dot.
You will have access to our basement and our laundry room. When the weather is nice you're welcome to lounge in our hammock and use our BBQ in the backyard.
Interaction with Guests
We always like to meet our guests when they arrive to say hello and show you around the place. After that we like to offer as much privacy or company as you need! But we're always up to take our guests for drinks at Relish.
We love our neighbourhood for its friendliness and spirit. And while the development keeps coming, the down to earth, small town feel of East York hasn't changed.
The Woodbine Stn subway stop is a 10-12 minute walk.
The 62 Mortimer bus is a 2 minute walk, and it will take you west to Broadview Stn in 20 min, and east to Main Stn in 2 min.
Downtown is 20-25 minutes away on the TTC, depending on the time of day.
When you arrive in Toronto, download the Uber app to hire a taxi or local driver.
Other Things to Note
We don't keep a lot of food and beverages in stock, because we find that peoples' tastes vary enough that things we would provide wouldn't always get used up before going stale. We're close to a couple of grocery stores so we let our guests stock up with their favourites to prevent food going to waste!
The space has been waterproofed and is clean and dry. One guest said that there was a flood, but that wasn't the case. These tenants alerted us to some water inside during a particularly bad winter. When I came home to help, the space was dry. They had cleaned up a bit of water on the floor with paper towels. I cleared snow from the end of the sump pump and the space was completely dry from then on.
Who do we want to have as guest? Anyone who is friendly, respectful, and a good AirBNB community member! That means you get that AirBNB is about belonging and will respect that the space is our home, not a hotel. There will be no drug use, no unreasonably demanding people, and no creeps or you'll find yourself hitting the road.
