About This Listing
Our holiday home: a beautiful renovated riad, is a tranquil place in the heart of the medina with roof terraces overlooking the Atlas mountains. Enjoy exclusive use; free wifi, books and dvds whilst our housekeeper ensures you have a relaxing stay.
Just a few minutes walk to the square with easy access to the Bahia Palace, museum, hamams, bureau de change, local bakery, coffee shops and restaurants you don't need to venture far but Najib, our manager, is on hand to help you organise trips to the desert, mountains and sea or find you a guide to navigate the souks, go horse riding or book a spa day. If you want to shop like a local our housekeeper can take you to the food markets to source fresh ingredients.
You have full access to the well stocked kitchen and we have a dining room next door - for those nippy winter nights (we have radiators in each room). There are tables on the ground floor terrace and roof terraces too so you can make the most of the beautiful weather and books and dvds in the sitting room if you just want to relax and make the most of such a tranquil haven.
Interaction with Guests
Fresh white bedlinen and towels are provided in each of the 3 bedrooms and our housekeeper will make the beds and keep the riad in pristine condition. If you would like her to make breakfast for you just let her know and she will be happy to for a small charge (charge will be the cost of the food). Moroccan pancakes and honey with freshly squeezed orange juice, whilst enjoying the morning sun on the roof terrace, is really not to be missed. Evening meals can be prepared too by arrangement.
The riad is easy to find and a short distance from the car park (there are no cars in the medina). We can also arrange for our driver to collect you from the airport for a small charge - just let us know when you book.
Enjoy the space as you would from home and let our housekeeper or Najib know if there are any problems or breakages. No smoking in the rooms please, smoking is allowed outside and an ashtray is available
Our whole experience was off the charts amazing. Najib was an amazing local host - he made sure we were completely set before he left us in the most amazing Riad! The Riad was spacious, clean and well supplied with everything we'd need. The rooftop terrace was simply spectacular - I only wish we had more days to stay up there and take in the afternoon sun!! Thank you for letting us stay in your amazing home, I hope to return some day!
The riad was perfectly situated. It was, however, absolutely freezing, with the electric fires provided doing no more than taking the edge off the cold, except in the smaller bedroom and the kitchen, if you closed the door and the (website hidden) was colder in the riad than the street so we walked in the souk in the evenings to get warm. The power sockets were coming away from the wall in several places, and occasionally omitted sparks. They, and the remote controls and the dvds were encrusted with dirt. The lighting was poor so reading was difficult. Taps in several places were substituted by the sort of valves that are used for stopcocks so we had to put socks over them to avoid hurting our hands when turning taps on and off. There was no hot water in the kitchen or downstairs loo. The cleaner, who was delightful, never reappeared after the first day, after we had said we would provide our own breakfast, so no fresh towels or sheets. We would have liked more information about where to go, what to do.
Thank you for your comments and sorry to hear you had some problems.
We provide a mobile for guests use, to contact our Manager about any queries so that he could rectify them. This applies for example to lack of hot water in the kitchen, location of clean bedding, towels and the room heaters controls.
The booking you made excluded service. The provision of Breakfast and cleaning is an additional service as discussed before your visit, and this you cancelled after the first day.
Information on what to do and where to go is available in the sitting room and includes travel books and recommendations by previous guests.
We are sorry you had a problem with the electrical plugs and we have taken action to rectify this.
Margaret and Stuart
While we never met Margaret and Stuart personally, Margaret graciously accommodated our very late request to stay and arranged for someone to pick us up at the bus station and Najib to orient us to the house and Marrakech. The riad was by far our favorite. Well kept up, quiet, yet right in the old medina and tour buses to easily get around. The riad felt like home from the minute we arrived. I strongly recommend this home and would return here should I return to Marrakech in the future.
Margaret has been a wonderful hostess, despite the fact we never met. She helped us with the transportation from the airport to the riad and everything said was done.
The riad was welcoming, clean and very well furnished.
The top roof terraces are just stunning.
Lovely place for a charming stay!
Thank you Margaret!
About the Host, Margaret & Stuart
We bought the Riad as our daughter has married a Moroccan whose family are based in Marrakesh. We visit twice a year and love to travel to the desert, mountains and seaside or just to relax with a paper on the sunny roof terrace of our holiday home.
