Staying in the old city of Marrakesh is indeed an adventure. After walking down a series of alleys to the door of the Riad, we found ourselves in a lovely enclosed courtyard with oranges ready to pick on the trees. The host offered us Moroccan tea. The rooms were lovely and simply appointed. We were surprised that there were no locks on the doors, but soon learned there was no need for them. If you wish, bring a padlock, but we felt perfectly at ease.
We had several excursions arranged by the host for us at our request, and they were quite lovely.
As it was winter, the nights are cool, and the warm blankets were needed.
The location is perfect, in walking distance of the entire Medina.
Breakfast was a light continental breakfast with a variation of egg or pancake each morning we were there.
The staff is most fluent in French as an alternative to the Arabic, so this worked better than English, but guests of several languages are there.
The guest book was filled with endless remarks about how this Riad was a welcome relief from the "tumult" out in the markets, the streets, and the souks, and I would have to fully agree. This is a peaceful place to come and unwind in a city filled with color, life, and very warm people.
I enjoyed my time at riyad sidi ayoub.
There were some inconveniences that in my opion are typical for Maroco so also applicable to this Riyad.
Breakfast is sober, sweet and non-nutrional.
When I asked for fresh orange juice, fruit and eggs at breakfast I was gladly surprised to find it the next day, unfortunately the next days none anymore.
This riad is noisy by playing children outside and, by the design of riads, by people talking inside the courtyard which amplifies the sounds.
Before booking I asked for a room with wifi, but in practice this was not the case. Not very inconvenient I could do some internet related work in one of the comfortable lounges.
Prices for lunch or diner in the riyad are double the prices as in good restaurants in the city, but a little disappointing to have to pay for the bottled water at breakfast as wel.
The riad is beautifull, rooms are clean and nicely Moroccan style decorated. When above issues are of minor importance to you I could recommend this riyad to you.
I stayed for 3 days at the Riad Sidi Ayoub. The stay was really nice and so are the staff, in the end I was almost sorry to leave.
Upon arriving I found myself in a valley of smiles from the very first person I met Mohammed. He explained everything I had available.
As soon as you entered the building you are captivated by its charm.
The room was clean and quiet (couldn't hear a noise). The bathroom is also spacious and very clean. Everything was authentic which is what you expect from 300 years old building. The court yard is full of orange trees and it was so peaceful.
The bed was one thing that if I could take him home, I would have done. Hard in the right places and comfortable....I was mesmerised by the beauty of the Riad.
Very rich and tasty breakfast, I loved the Moroccan tea and home made bread. With each breakfast I became more spoiled.
These are the things that made me enjoy my stay at this hotel and my warmest congratulations to the Riad for their choice of personnel. They know how to really make you feel at home, and if you need anything it is like asking a family member. Congratulations from the heart, you were fantastic. I will definitely go back there again. Hope to see you soon Muhammed, Brahim and the others...
