The Distillers Hut, a cosy country retreat rich in the history of the pioneering spirit(s)! Perfect for couples. Come and unwind, put your feet up with a good book by the crackling open fire or bring your favourite music. Soak in the outdoor bath tub. Enjoy a morning coffee or evening wine on the veranda.

The space
The Distillers Hut is suitable for two people; it has two rooms, a living area and bedroom with ensuite. The living area has an open fire and kitchenette equiped with cutlery, crockery, kettle, toaster and electric egg cooker. The bedroom has a super king bed. The outdoor bath is located in a private courtyard setting outside the ensuite. Cooking facilities include a six burner hooded BBQ with pizza stone, a microwave oven and a George Foreman multi cooker (for steaming rice and vegetables plus has a slow cook function). So be prepared to cook up some BBQ fare or you can visit our local cafes, bars and restaurants in Winton and Invercargill. (Winton is 18kms (15 mins) from us and Invercargill CBD 45kms).
Leave the devices and social media behind and get back to a simple stress free mode that is the Distillers Hut. One thing we couldn't do without was a decent sound system so do bring your favourite tunes along to play via bluetooth, USB or Auxiliary connections.
(Please note, the hut is not suitable for young children).

Guest access
Guest's have access to the entire hut which is completely separate from our home, (our home is approximately 100 metres away).

Other things to note
Braintra is a working beef and dairy farm so you will occasionally see and hear the activities of farm life ... motorbikes, barking dogs, bellowing stock and raised voices when the cattle mustering turns to custard!! We also get the odd stock truck and tractors going about their work.

I live with my family in the beautiful province of Southland, New Zealand. A place with an abundance of adventure, magnificent scenery and community minded friendly locals! We farm beef and dairy cattle and absolutely love this lifestyle. Our two daughters are now both away at university so things are a little quiet at home. We enjoy the outdoors especially coastal places, surfing, diving and just being in the ocean are favourite things for our family as is exploring out of the way places and enjoying simple pleasures. That is why we wanted to share our Distiller's Hut with other like minded people. We have thoroughly enjoyed meeting all our guests, and have made many new friends along the way!
