Interaction with Guests
For solo women travelers exploring Turkey, The Cherry House studio offers independence but also security and support.
There are no silly single supplements and as I live here I'm on hand to answer questions and give you as much or as little company as you need..
Cooled by fragrant pine scented breezes, Kirazli is a world apart from the busting
tourists centers of the coastal strip. Every Sunday there is a small farmers market and here the village lady's co-operative sells jams, dried
fruits, dried chili's and vegetables from the cottage gardens. Everything is seasonal and if you are here in late spring, you may be lucky enough to grab a few jars of lovely Rose jam which tastes like liquid lokum.
Kirazli has some excellent local restaurants, where they serve beautiful dishes, all prepared with organic ingredients from their own garden...all for very few money.
Public transport can take you directly to the village or you can hire a car at the airport.
From izmir airport, drive south on the Aydin/Selcuk/Kusadasi road. There is a fast and inexpensive toll road as far as Selcuk or the normal main road. Drive through Selcuk and turn right at Camlik onto the Kusadasi road. After a few km turn left to Gokcealan and Kirazli is the next village.

Our stay with Jenny was fabulous!! I cannot say enough about Jenny's hospitality and kindness. The apartment was exactly how it was shown in the pictures and was actually bigger than I thought it was going to be. We spent 5 nights and couldn't have been more comfortable.
Kirazli is a small little farming village with not a whole lot going on but it makes for a great get away from the bigger cities and the hoards of tourists that you're sure to encounter. It's in a perfect location for day trips and the Dolmus which runs frequently through Kirazli can get you to Kusadasi, Selcuk, Ephesus and Sirince quite easily. There are also a few local restaurants within a short walk of the apartment. We only made it to one of them but it was a great spot with some fantastic food. If you're looking to get away from larger cities, seeing how locals live and an overall relaxing experience, I would highly recommend reaching out to Jenny. We're certainly glad we did!
We had a wonderful stay with Jenny in her cozy and spacious studio which is part of her house complex. She's a great host, helpful and understanding and the studio is immaculate in every aspect just like in the pictures.
As to Kirazli itself, it is a laid-back and very authentic little village, ideally located to visit Ephesus and other nearby attractions (e.g. Milli Park). Plus at the entrance of the village you'll find a delicious local restaurant!
Overall, highly recommended if you want to get a real taste of Turkish village life!
We went in search of the real Turkey experience and a complete break, and we cannot imagine getting much closer to either. The village was not touristy, but a chance to understand Turkey from the inside. And we have to thank our host, Jenny, for so much of that.
Our goal was a holiday relaxing by and in a private pool some days, visiting archaeological sites such as Ephesus on other days. Jenny started us off each day with a variety of authentic breakfasts that were full of delight and also healthy; after which all we needed was some fruit and water to keep us going until our evening meal.
The apartment was spotless, beautifully furnished, good shower, the bed comfortable, and kitchen facilities good for self-catering although it's so cheap to eat out that we only cooked once.
Kirazli Koy, the village, is not just another village. It is stuffed full of restaurants serving the healthiest, home-grown, organic & Turkish food & drink imaginable: they call it "Koy Sofrazi". If you look in purely monetary terms this village is not rich. Most people seem to drive second hand tractors, and that reflects the agricultural heart of a very friendly and warm community.
One word of warning: the side streets are narrow. We recommend hiring a small to medium sized car.
About the Host, Jenny
My husband and I are the new owners of this beautiful house with guesthouse, we moved over in February 2014 from Mol, a beautiful village in Belgium, to Kirazli, where life is still so peaceful and all you can hear whilst relaxing in the courtyard, are the birds singing and (website hidden) and baking are the things I enjoy the most and it makes me very happy if I can treat our guests to a delicious breakfast made with local fresh products.
The previous owners, Karen and Nick, have made this guesthouse to the success it is today and made it one of the favourite destinations for many Airbnb visitors.
We find it absolutely delightful that people come to spend a few days with us and we do everything we can to pamper them and give them a great time.
