This sunny studio guesthouse is centrally located only six blocks from the U. of A. in the eclectic Sam Hughes Historical Neighborhood. French doors open from the studio to a large covered porch and a private fenced yard with desert landscaping. (Note: We are booking only longterm rentals of 29 days or more through March 5, with discounts available for multi-month rentals. If you are interested in booking for more than one month, send me a message and we can discuss it.)

The space

The large, open main room has 10 ft. ceilings and high south and east facing windows, with industrial style block walls and exposed electrical outlets and ductwork.

A small kitchen and bathroom are tucked under a loft at one end. The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, hotplate, electric skillet, and Keurig coffee maker. (Coffee and tea are also provided.) Note: There is no stove in the kitchen.

The loft is tall enough for sitting, but not standing. It has a twin-sized foam mattress that can be used for lounging or extra sleeping space.

The furniture is a combination of new pieces, including a queen-sized bet and a loveseat, and some great used finds. There is also an HD television with DISH programming, a Blue Ray player, and wireless internet.

**Weekly and monthly rates are seasonal.

Guest access

There is a separate entrance to the studio with guest parking in the alley. The guest house is separated from the main house by a privacy fence.

Interaction with guests

We will greet you at check-in to say hello and answer any questions you have about the space or Tucson. We have lived in Tucson for many years, and we would be happy to provide recommendations for things to see and do while you're in town.

You probably won't see us much after check-in, but we are always available at the main house, and you can call, text, or e-mail at any time with any concerns or questions.

Really nice neighborhood, close to U of A in a walkable distance, really quiet with all the basic for short to mid-length stays. Denise is a great host!

My daughter is a student at UofA and I came to visit her during a summer program she was participating in June. I choice Denise's Studio because of the proximity to the School and as well as the description of the Studio. I was delighted to be greeted by Denise when I arrived on Thursday night and found the Studio very clean and charming. The neighborhood felt safe which made me feel comfortable walking to the campus and places to eat.

We were greeted by Denise at her front door and given a warm welcome. She then met us at the entrance to the studio and gave us a very brief, but complete introduction to the place. That was literally the last time we saw her. We communicated nearly every day by text message, but our stay was completely private. When we asked that a sticky door knob be fixed, she took care of it the next time we left the studio, then let us know by text that it was fixed. The studio is exactly as pictured in the photos on the Airbnb site. Absolutely perfect for us and we will absolutely stay again!

Wonderful accommodations in a great neighborhood! Conveniently located to U of A and downtown...very walkable and bikeable. The courtyard was an added bonus. Would definitely recommend it. We look forward to a return visit.

Denise lives in a beautiful neighborhood in Tucson, and the little apartment is just so adorable. It was very clean and very tastefully decorated. She had coffee, tea, and granola bars available, as well as all the basics to cook with. She was very accessible to ask any questions and made us feel welcome and at home. At the same time it felt very private. It felt like our own space especially since the courtyard is completely private as well. At the same time it was not very far from downtown at all. I highly recommend staying there.

Denise is a wonderful host. She is warm and welcoming, and sets her guests at ease. She has thoughtfully taken the time to put together an extensive binder of local information (perfect for those unfamiliar with Tucson), and provided travel guides and local magazines. Her casita captures Tucson's unique spirit, with its Mexican tiles, bright colors, and airy space. The casita is clean, cozy, and has all the amenities one might need for a short or extended stay. It's private patio and yard are a nice extension of the casita and provide a perfect place for enjoying morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay, and would recommend Denise's casita to anyone.

I am a native Arizonan, which is rare around here, and I have lived in Tucson for many years. I don't think I could ever leave our beautiful desert for good, but I love to travel to greener, wetter places. I especially love the ocean. I am sem-retired, working part-time as a reading teacher in an elementary school. One of my main interests for quite a few years has been renovating my 1930 home and the detached guesthouse. I am excited about listing the guesthouse on Airbnb, and I look forward to renting it to fellow travelers. Joseph, my partner, will be assisting me in this new venture.
