What a fun experience staying at Joyce's home in San Miguel. Our taxi driver from out of town had a difficult time finding his way but ALL of the local taxi's knew exactly how to get there. We walked all over the neighborhood from our front door. Even up to the botanical garden! We arrived on a rare VERY rainy few days and Joyce had spare umbrellas for us. Our room was upstairs. We walked outside and up the stairs, past a lovely sitting area outside. We had a portable heater to keep us warm (once again we had rare weather) Joyce is a lovely host and we recommend staying with her in this house or any of her other spaces!
Joyce welcomed us warmly by inviting us to a little party on her terraza for friends and guests. The vista over San Miguel is just awesome. Joyce is so helpful with lots of info about local services, events, sights etc. The location is great great, very handy to the historical centre and to the market. The space was beautiful and had everything we needed...a huge king size bed and a little kitchen / dining area. We had booked quite some months ago and Joyce kept in touch along the way which we appreciated.
The reservation was canceled 4 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Joyce was the icing on the cake for a wonderful stay and a great experience.
Joyce is a wonderful lady, with a wonder place in wonder city... I really enjoyed staying at her apartment; it is spacious, bright and nicely decorated. And, Joyce is a real gem; she is a very authentic, worldly, generous person; I felt very much at home staying with her. Finally, I found San Miguel de Allende to be a very interesting and colorful; it is well worth a visit.
Joyce was incredibly welcoming and accommodating during our stay in San Miguel. She let us stay in Casa Tecolote which was wonderful! The rooftop spaces are great for hanging out day or night and the views are actually some of the best in town. The house is a quick 10 min walk into town (downhill there, uphill back) so it is a very mexican neighborhood with few tourists. Joyce was around time to time making sure we had everything we needed and could always recommend something to do around town. Having filtered water in the house was a luxury. Water pressure and temp were low in the downstairs bathroom but the upstairs was great (in casa tecolote). All of Joyce's properties are authentically decorated. Met many wonderful people who were staying in Joyce's other rooms that made the trip even more special!
Joyce is an exceptional host - extremely accommodating and helpful (she helped us arrange travel to and from the airport). We ended up having the entire house to ourselves and loved it. It is charming, comfortable, quiet and very very clean, with gorgeous views of San Miguel from the terrace (also, hammocks!). It's also than a ten minute walk to the main square - we ended up foregoing taxis and walked most our trip. Joyce is very warm and friendly and has loads of interesting stories, we shared a glass of wine and travels stories on our last evening. Couldn't have asked for a better spot!
