Interaction with Guests
Being a businessman working both in Morocco and in other countries, I travel a lot and it can happen to me not being present. When it's the case Suzanne will welcome you. And all other services are provided by Samira and "le Haj".
The riad is next to the Oudayas district, "rue des Consuls". There is also the souk of the medina nearby, and shopping streets. Even if the streets of the medina are alive, the riad is located in a very peaceful and quiet area. Next to the Oudayas district, you can enjoy the beach.
You can access to the riad from the train station of Rabat ville, which is 700 meters away, by "little cabs" (petit taxi), or by foot through the medina. You can also take the train or a cab from Casablanca Airport (1h), or Rabat Airport (15min). If you have a car, you can park it in Bab Laahlou Avenue (at 1min away from the riad by foot). There is a tram which goes through Rabat and Salé at 400 meters by foot down the medina.
The riad is located in a peaceful district, away from the pollution of the roads. Only birdsong is allowed.
It's a great place, we all love it! You must have in Rabat !
Nos sentimos muy a gusto. El lugar es bellísimo, en plena medina. Un oasis de paz. Nos trataron como a su familia. Espero pder volver. Lo recomiendo 100%
We had some problems with finding the place as Google maps shows different location. After some help from local people on the street( as we didn't speak French and at Riad nobody speak English) and short taxi drive finally we arrived to Riad. Location wise it's very good in quiet part of the Medina close to beach and Kasbah. House decor is a really impressive mix of old and new. Owner and staff very friendly. Beds, towels etc very good and comfortable. Breakfast was nice with a very good coffee!
After some difficulties with finding it and although language barrier it was very pleasant stay and would definitely stay there again.
Not great. The riad itself was okay. It is fairly nice and well situated. If you like a more modern place with just a soft bed you might like it.
Now to everything else... first of all, the address on airbnb is totally wrong. There are two rue doukkali in Rabat and the one that shows in the app and on the confirmation is completely wrong. You are looking for Impasse Doukkali in the Medina. I confirmed with Alain but I still did not realise it was wrong which meant a very stressful 2 hours trying to find it for my wife and I. When we called the riad the woman there did not speak English and was very snooty and not at all helpful with my wife who speaks good French. We had to call three times and then pay a taxi extra to call and get us there. Once there we were treated completely condescending and the wifi did not work, there were few towels and everything seemed to try and safe money even though the place is supposed to be luxurious. ..
The jacuzzi/tub on the roof had no water in it, the sea can't really be seen from the roof and breakfast was horrible. We came down at 9 as agreed, then sat there with a little banana and apple and after about 15 minutes had to ask the girl in the kitchen (who was just staring at us until then) for bread and coffee. We had to ask for the buns to be retoasted as they were still frozen and then ask three times for milk. The buns tasted like old fat and were inedible and we were made to feel bad when we wanted to leave our bags for an hour after check-out. All in all the worst experience of our holiday, not relaxing and missed completely what i wanted to do... give my wife the best place last and finish our holiday in luxury and really relaxed. We rather carried our bags around for the rest of the day then go back there! That says it all. Very disappointing and definitely don't go there if you cannot speak Arabic or French! Nearly 1,5 times as expensive as some of the other places we stayed and much, much less enjoyable and thought out.
This is a very difficult place to review... It's very nice, very clean, in an excellent location, and the staff are fabulous. However there were a few problems...
The main one was that two of my emails to Alain went unanswered... I didn't even know the address for where we were going but a kind taxi driver sorted it out for us.
The riad itself is very hot and humid -- I was ok the first of our two nights and drenched in sweat the second -- my husband hardly slept either night because it was so uncomfortably hot -- and because the bed is very uncomfortable. The second night he asked for a fan but that leads me to the next biggest problem...
There is only one outlet in the whole room! So we had to go without charging anything in order to run the fan on the other side of the room, so it didn't help much. The internet also doesn't work upstairs.
Finally, we were shocked that breakfast doesn't include coffee or tea -- it was 25 dirhams per cup! We were also surprised that it was 60 dirhams for a load of laundry -- having travelled around the country for a month now, those prices seemed incredibly steep.
Last thing -- I don't know what type of paint is on the walls/floors but the white pain on the walls comes off on your clothes like crazy if you brush against it! Every time we were leaving we had to take a damp cloth to each other's backs -- it's a narrow room so you're always bumping against something! The floor is the same -- we seem to have ruined a couple pairs of socks on it.
I know this seems very negative but I want to be honest for the sale of other travelers... If you decide to stay here though, the staff is very friendly and welcoming, so you'll really like them.
