[NEIGHBOURS]
• Please keep voices and noise levels to a minimum, especially at night after 10pm. To ensure the respect of neighbors around, this policy is strictly enforced. If guests receive complaints from neighbors or police, guests will be in charge of handling the situation. If situations get out of hand, we have the right to cancel your reservation and no refunds will be given.
[GUESTS AND VISITORS]
• If there are more occupants than your initial booking, we will charge additional fees.
• If friends are visiting during your stay, please leave before 10 pm.
[PERSONAL ITEMS]
• We are not responsible for any loss, damage or destruction to any personal property brought onto the premises. Personal property includes any personal effects and motor vehicles.
[EMERGENCY & SAFETY]
• A day in khaki is a smoke-free environment, please do not use any fire or gas for cooking in the guesthouse (including indoor space and outdoor courtyard space.) If you cause any fire, you will be in charge of the civil and criminal liability of Japan. If you need to smoke, please only smoke at the designated smoking area right at the entrance of the property. Once you have finished smoking, please put out your cigarette and leave it in the water ashtray.
• Due to the layout of the traditional machiya, please be careful throughout the house i.e stairs, ceiling heights, floors, etc. We are not responsible for any injuries during your stay.
[FACILITIES / EQUIPMENTS]
• If you are staying for more than seven days and need cleaning services, please inform our staff of your preferred date(s) at check-in. Separately, we’ll provide fresh towels and take out the trash for you every other day.
• Please read all provided instruction manuals for all electronic equipments.
• During your stay at A day in khaki, if any furniture or objects have been stolen or damaged, we will claim compensation from you.
• Please leave decoration items throughout the house in place.
• Please leave used towels in the designated basket
• The following items are free to use and required to be thrown as trash after use: Toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, cotton swabs, and cotton pads.
• Please do not step on or destroy the plants in any form.
• Please do not download any illegal content from the internet during your stay in accordance with Japanese Law.
[OTHER REGULATIONS]
• During your stay, please respect our staff’s instructions. If any trouble is caused, we have the right to cancel your bookings and no refunds will be given.
• In accordance with Kyoto City regulations, an accommodation tax is required for all guests staying in Kyoto. This tax is collected on behalf of the local government and is separate from the room rate shown on Airbnb.
For stays on or after March 1, 2026, the accommodation tax is calculated per person, per night, based on the accommodation fee set by Kyoto City:
• Under ¥6,000: ¥200
• ¥6,000 – ¥19,999: ¥400
• ¥20,000 – ¥49,999: ¥1,000
• ¥50,000 – ¥99,999: ¥4,000
• ¥100,000 and above: ¥10,000
