By the month, LLI is 5 blocks away, no Inn or house is closer. Large, quiet room w/ double bed, chaise lounge reading nook, skylight, wifi, large desk, view of coastal mountains, closet & shelves. Full use of house, well appointed kitchen & laundry.
A view to the east, over rooftops to the hills. This large, quiet and comfy room has a chaise reading nook, wifi, a double bed, shelves, a desk with a view and a skylight.
Great kitchen to prepare meals. Super bright with clean cutting boards, knives, high speed blender, juicer, food processor, a roomy french door stainless fridge, a ceramic topped stove that will bake with conventional or convection, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, your own shelves.
A corner market is a 1/2 block away, specializing in gourmet coffee treats and deli sandwiches. A natural food store, around the corner, is stuffed with organic goodies, made to order juices, (wheat grass too).
Just a 2 block walk to shopping and the town center.
My house was built in 1916. There is a covered porch out front, perfect for your morning latte (shop just a 1/2 block away) and out the backdoor is a redwood deck with a table and chairs for lounging away the afternoon.
This is a good size, well designed home, comfortable, not fussy, a good place to kick back and enjoy.
The living room has large windows featuring the natural light with comfy furniture, perfect for curling up with a good book.
The walls downstairs, are all board and bead redwood, painted soft tones of blue and green.
The dining room is a good size with a hand built table and chairs. There are large windows supplying good natural light. It is a very pleasant room.
A nice space for eating, entertaining or studying. There is a rainbow staircase spiraling to the upstairs.
This room has it's own private 1/2 bath. I have a great on-demand hot water system, so there is always plenty of hot water for showers and laundry. (There is a Kirkland shampoo in the shower for your use and a botanical shower gel.)
This room does not have any common walls with any other bedroom.
There is a mini lounge at the top of the stairs, with a futon and a skylight. A bright, comfortable and private area, an extra quiet place to study.
A shared bath with a shower is downstairs. I have a great on-demand hot water system, so there is always plenty of hot water for showers and laundry. (There is a Kirkland shampoo in the shower for your use and a botanical shower gel.)
High windows furnish the room with natural light while ensuring privacy. There are laundry facilities and laundry detergent for use and convenience.
You will have full house privileges (except other bedrooms).
There is WiFi and parking is available usually right in front of the house.
Please make yourself at home.
Please prepare food, bring guests over for dinner. Lounge on the deck, drink coffee on the porch while enjoying the morning light. In other words, please use the house freely for your enjoyment during your stay!
Check in time is anytime after noon. Late check-ins are always welcome.
Interaction with Guests
I have really enjoyed the interaction with the students who have stayed here.
If you are here without a car and you need a trip to the grocery, I would be happy to take you after work.
I can also answer questions and point you in the right direction, if you are looking for a health food store or which day the Farmer's Market is open. Please ask.
I are very respectful of a person's need for privacy.
This house is located on a quiet street with other fine built older homes. Street view is incorrect. Centrally located in the city of Fort Bragg, CA. It is 5 blocks to the Living Light Culinary Institute, 1/2 block to a corner grocery with espresso and sandwiches, 3 blocks to a CVS pharmacy, less than a mile to the Mendocino Coast District Hospital and the Fine Furniture program at the College of the Redwoods, 4 blocks to our historic downtown district with many fine dining and entertainment options and 5 blocks to our world class swimming and workout recreation center, the CV Starr center. You can walk or bike to most parts of Fort Bragg quite easily.
Mendocino Transit Authority bus line is only 3.5 blocks away ($1.50). They also offer a DIal-A-Ride door to door service to any place in town for $6 or 1/2 price for seniors and the disabled. MTA connects with airporters (coming from either SFO or Oakland airports) at the Santa Rosa airport, but only once a day, important info for trip planning.

I had a great stay. The house and the room was much bigger than expected. It was so helpful to have use of a washing machine and dryer and a full kitchen. Gisele very kindly met me at the bus stop when I arrived in Town and took the time to help me get my bearings - she even took me to the grocery store on the way home which was a great help. I would definitely stay there again. It was just a 5 min walk to the Living Light school and everything you need is real close. Exceptional value for money.
Gisele was very welcoming and helpful I felt the description and photos were accurate. I stayed at Gisele's while attending Living Light! Gisele's was a sweet quite place where I could study and feel comfortable. She even had a great blender which came in handy! I would defiantly stay with Gisele again. It was a great experience!:)
I've just spent 3 weeks at Gisele's lovely home. Gisele is a beautiful lady who is always happy to help and at the same time does not invade anyones space. When you are travelling away from home it is nice to have a friendly face...and she is just that) She picked me up and took me back to the bus on arrival/departure..which is great when you dont know where you are going! Her home is clean and homely so I settled in nicely.....If you are passing by Fort Bragg look her up, I can definitely recommend.. and.. will go to her again myself))))
Debs was a lovely guest, my only regret, that she had to leave early and not stay for the entire 30 days of her stay.
Debs had attended the Living Light Culinary Arts Program here is Fort Bragg.
My house is very close to the school, a short 9 minute walk of 5 level blocks, through the nicest parts of town and past shops, so convenient for picking up a few things on the way home.
My stay with Gisele was perfect. The location is good, definitely if you are going to the Living Light Culinary Institute like me, and shops are in walking distance. Gisele is very friendly and helpful. For example, she picked me up from the bus station. The house is clean and the room is a good size with enough storage space. I loved the garden, I felt very at home and I would absolutely recommend this place!
Neri's two month stay was very pleasant for me, I loved that she was so at home here and she really enjoyed her stay.
My home is a short 5 block walk to the Living Light Culinary Institute, past shops, the post office and stores ladened with many vegan treats and organic produce.
My garden is my treasure. It is still young yet, but starting to come into it's own. I hope to put in some raised beds soon, for home grown organic veggies.
This is a good sized well built house with an ample kitchen and the on demand hot water system assures everyone plenty of hot water.
I enjoy hosting students from LLI. Neri was a welcome addition to the household.
Gisele was a friendly and accommodating hostess and I would definitely stay with her on future trips to Fort Bragg. She was happy to help me with logistics when it came to coordinating my arrival from San Francisco, offering me info about the bus schedules and also the best routes to drive if i rented a car (which i did). She lives in the adjoining guesthouse on the property, so although i didn't have daily interaction with Gisele, she was easily accessible and always more than happy to help me in any way she could.
The house is a recently remodeled old victorian house, there is a full kitchen and nice living area downstairs where guests can relax, eat meals, etc. I was there for a month while i participated in a work exchange program at the Living Light Institute and I enjoyed having access to the kitchen and laundry facilities during my extended stay. It was very close to the Living Light institute, close to the downtown area where there were lots of restaurants, shopping, and stuff to do close by. It was also just few blocks from the ocean.
Gisele has a quaint little place, close to town and the bike trail. She was communicative and pleasant. The accomodations are fine for a couple or a single person. Nice to have access to a kitchen and washer/drier. The price was good for someone on a budget, who doesn't need any extras.
It was so nice to have you come for a visit Elizabeth and I am really glad that you and your friend came here to ride your bikes.
Fort Bragg is a bike riders paradise and has bike lanes all over town and it is a brief 6 minute ride to the paved walking and bike path along the headlands, then you can ride for miles along side the ocean, free of motor vehicle traffic.
The forest is full of trails and is a mecca for many mountain bike riders.
What a lovely spot! This property was quaint, quiet, conveniently located and very safe. I felt very comfortable and right at home! Gisele has done a great job remodeling the house and keeping a clean interior. I was very appreciative of being able to use the garden area to rinse my dive gear and let it dry. Gisele was a very gracious host. She was warm and welcoming but also gave me space to go about my day. I will certainly stay here every time I go to Fort Bragg. Gisele is an excellent communicator and was always one step ahead of what I needed like having the wifi access code in my room so I didn't have to ask for it. You can't go wrong staying here!
Thank you Stephanie, I am glad that you enjoyed your stay.
I love this old house and the work is on-going, I have projects to last the millennium. (I love projects) It is so nice to hear positive feedback on my work.
The neighborhood here is great, super nice community. Since we are so centrally located, I see many of my neighbors, out walking everyday, to the post office, the credit union, grocery and other stores are all just a couple of blocks away.
You will always be welcome.

It is my goal to provide quality housing and and a peaceful learning environment for students, who come to study the arts, and my personal favorite, the art of preparing raw, vegan foods from the Living Light Culinary Arts Institute.
I am interested in meeting new people and I enjoy listening to the tales of students who come to visit our wonderful community of Fort Bragg and learn their craft. As a transit driver for the Mendocino Transit Authority, I spend a lot of time driving and observing and listening to the tales of Fort Bragg throughout my day.
I love to ride my bike, play in the garden, walk our incredible beaches and I am often involved in some sort of home or painting project.
I have spent time on the ocean as a commercial fishing boat owner and participated in several different fisheries
I also enjoy kayaking, hiking and walking along our beautiful ocean.
My moto: Participation rather than speculation.
