About this listing
My home has been described as warm and welcoming. Enjoy a nice sized bedroom, incredibly comfortable full sized mattress, large bathroom, and a very peaceful backyard to relax after a long day of sightseeing. Come and experience Austin!
Classic Cherry Bedroom Set from the 60's with Full-Sized mattress/ boxspring with Full Allergy Protectors on bedding. Flat Screen TV, DVD Player, Desk, and Walk in Closet.
My home is equal distance (about 8 miles) to downtown and to the Circuit of the Americas/Formula One/360 Amphitheater. You will feel completely relaxed and on vacation during your stay. My property is beautifully landscaped and is a haven for local birds, to include a couple families of Cardinals. My home has a large kitchen for cooking and entertaining. There are 3 bedrooms, with my master bedroom on the opposite side of the house. This allows there to be a separation and privacy for my guests. The bedroom that on this listing is fully furnished with furniture from the 1960's. There is a full sized bed with nightstand, 2 dressers and a desk. I provide fresh clean linens that can be laundered during your stay. There is a walk in closet, wireless internet, and a semi-private full bathroom. Kitchen use with a separate fridge for guests is also available. For my long term guests, washer/dryer use is available. Home is a three bedroom/two bath. Large fenced-in backyard with large relaxing deck, a bubbling fish pond, and a lot of greenspace (yard backs up to Onion Creek). While my home is 8 miles from downtown, with Austin traffic, it may take 20-30 minutes to get downtown.
I have 2 medium sized dogs (Scout and Roxanne) and 2 cats (1 orange tabby and 1 black tabby) Louie and Moose.
I also have an amazing roommate (who works a lot, it's quite possible you don't meet each other), with a big Black Lab pup!
Located about 1 mile from IH-35/William Cannon.
Close to McKinney Falls State Park (about 4 miles)
Less than 8 miles to Lady Bird Lake/Downtown (Bus stop is about 1/4 mile from house and takes about an hour to get downtown, cab fare is about $20.00 to downtown).
I highly recommend having a car if you plan to stay at my home. It is the easiest way to get around.
Guests can access and enjoy the entire home and open backyard space. Driveway Parking too!
Interaction with Guests
I love to interact with guests, but equally respect their need for downtime and privacy.
Quiet diverse neighborhood that is filled with friendly people.
Public Transportation in my neighborhood is not the best. Having a car is easiest unless you are an avid bicyclist. There is an easy way to get downtown from my house, but it is a good 8 mile ride. Bike rentals are available.
Other Things to Note
If you are interested, please contact me through Airbnb. All initial contacts and reservations should be made through this site. I am not interested in trying to contact you privately. If you have already stayed with me, I welcome your email or phone call. Thank you in advance!
I am happy to provide complimentary transportation to and from the airport if necessary. If you are coming during a festival weekend or during SXSW and you don't want to rent a car, there is a good possibility that I can assist with transportation for far less than a cab ride.
While enjoying your stay, I request no additional overnight guests. Please be respectful of noise and cleanliness. My home is non-smoking both in and outdoors.
And most of all, have a great time in Austin :)
I love the outdoors, gardening, landscaping, working on my fishpond, and hosting backyard house concerts with musicians from all over the country. My home and yard is truly an Oasis from the craziness life can throw at me. It helps make sense of the world for me.
When I'm not able to spend time doing those things, I am the president and founder of a local 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization called ATX Kids Club that offers Summer Camps and After-school Adventures to elementary aged students. I have previously been an Assistant Principal and Elementary School Teacher for K-5th Grade. In my free time, I love to be outdoors. I have 2 dogs (Scout and Roxanne) and 2 cats (Moose and Louie). I enjoy spending time out and about with friends as well as peaceful times alone. Austin has become my home after spending most of my years in the North-eastern part of the US (PA/MD). I have been here for about 7 years and can't imagine living anywhere else. People ask why Austin, and other than the warm temperatures that I prefer, it's the people here. Austin is a small city filled with people from other places. It creates a city that is filled with people that live here intentionally and love being here. So, I believe the outcome of this, is a city filled with happy people. There is so much to do here always but it's not too big that you feel overwhelmed by it being a city. You can participate or not, but having the option so close is very nice. Austin is becoming a huge hotspot for tourism and people relocating. Our economy is doing well and our Real Estate is reasonably affordable. I hope you consider taking a trip to this wonderful city!
