South Austin Oasis of Relaxation

House - Private room · Hidden Brook Ct, Austin, TX 78744, United States

My home has been described as warm and welcoming. I offer a nice sized bedroom with an incredibly comfortable full sized mattress, a large bathroom, and a very peaceful backyard to relax after a long day of sightseeing. Come and experience Austin!

The Space

My home is equal distance (about 8 miles) to downtown and to the COTA (Circuit of the Americas/Formula One) racetrack. You will feel completely relaxed and on vacation during your stay. My property is beautifully landscaped and is a haven for local birds, to include 4 families of Cardinals. My home has a large kitchen for cooking and entertaining. There are 3 bedrooms, with my master bedroom on the opposite side of the house. This allows there to be a separation and privacy for my guests. The bedroom that on this listing is fully furnished with furniture from the 1960's. There is a full sized bed with nightstand and 2 dressers. I provide fresh clean linens that can be laundered during your stay. There is a walk in closet, 26" Flatscreen TV with digital antennae and dvd player, wireless internet, and a semi-private full bathroom. Kitchen use with a small fridge for guests is also available. For my long term guests, washer/dryer use is available. Home is a three bedroom/two bath. Large fenced-in backyard with large relaxing deck, a bubbling fish pond, and a lot of greenspace (yard backs up to Onion Creek).
I have 2 medium sized dog (Scout and Sabrina) and one slightly larger dog (Roxanne) and one orange tabby cat (Tiggs).
Located about 1 mile from IH-35/William Cannon
Close to McKinney Falls State Park (about 4 miles)
Less than 8 miles to Lady Bird Lake/Downtown (Bus stop is about 1/4 mile from house and takes about an hour to get downtown, cab fare is about $20.00 to downtown).
I highly recommend having a car if you plan to stay at my home. It is the easiest way to get around.

Guest Access

Guests can access and enjoy the entire home and open backyard space. Driveway Parking too!

Interaction with Guests

I love to interact with guests, but equally respect their need for downtime and privacy.

The Neighborhood

Quiet diverse neighborhood that is filled with friendly people.

Getting around

Public Transportation in South Austin is not the best. Having a car is easiest unless you are an avid bicyclist. There is an easy way to get downtown from my house, but it is a good 8 mile ride. Bike rentals are available.

Other Things to Note

I am happy to provide complimentary transportation to and from the airport if necessary. If you are coming during a weekend or during SXSW and you don't want to rent a car, there is a good possibility that I can assist with transportation for far less than a cab ride.

  • My wife Barbara and I went to Austin for business, and because of Tammy, it became a vacation!

Look at the photos - it's more lovely than that.
Read the comments - all true, plus great quiche.
The "Peaceful Oasis in South Austin" is the vacation home I've always wanted.

    Response from Tammy:

Thank you Bob and Barbara. So very kind! I'm happy it was relaxing for you both. Let me know when you plan your next trip!

  • Tammy is great, my flight got delayed 9 hours, meaning that I got in at 3:00am. She's a total trooper and set an alarm to be awake for when I showed up.

Place was clean (and I'm unusually uptight about clean). Price was great. I only hope she and her friends enjoyed being at the track as much as I enjoyed showing them around.

  • The day I arrived in Austin I lost my wallet. Tammy was kind enough to take me where I needed to go to help fix my situation. The house is so spacious and clean and the pets are very pleasant. My only regret is I didn't get more time to spend in the awesome backyard.

  • My room was cozy and comfortable, and I had everything I needed while in Austin. Tammy was a gracious and accommodating host, and her two dogs are hilarious. What else can I say, other than thanks? Thanks, Tammy!

  • Tammy's well-kept home is a joy to stay in. The house is clean. The room is comfortable. The pets are friendly. The neighborhood is quiet..... And she made us cookies!
I will definitely be staying here next time I visit Austin.

  • I cannot say enough good things about Tammy! She has a beautiful, immaculately clean home in a very nice neighborhood, two of the cutest most friend dogs, a very chill cat, and overall she is just a very gracious and informative host. If at all possible, stay at Tammy's when you visit Austin, you won't be disappointed!

I am an Assistant Principal for K-5th Grade and love to be outdoors. I have 2 medium sized dogs (Scout and Sabrina) and 1 medium/large dog (Roxanne). I also have an Orange Tabby cat (Tiggs). I love to landscape and garden, host monthly house concerts in my backyard and enjoy time with friends as well as peaceful times alone. Austin has become my home after spending most of my years in the North-eastern part of the US (PA/MD). I have been here for about 5 years and can't imagine living anywhere else. People ask why Austin, and other than the warm temperatures that I prefer, it's the people here. Austin is a small city filled with people from other places. It creates a city that is filled with people that live here intentionally and love being here. So, I believe the outcome of this, is a city filled with happy people. There is so much to do here always but it's not too big that you feel overwhelmed by it being a city. You can participate or not, but having the option so close is very nice. Austin is becoming a huge hotspot for tourism and people relocating. Our economy is doing well and our Real Estate is reasonably affordable. I hope you consider taking a trip to this wonderful city!
