This Calendar is for a large basement Great Room/Bedroom with private Shower; and a W/C with tile floor, sink, NEW toilet (March 2012), and mirror. All windows in the room have been updated, most in 2011. They include a HUGE Egress window, facing south, and provide decent natural light, for a basement level space.
Furnishings include: a dining/work Table, chairs; end-table, footstool with sofa, Oriental Privacy Screen, ceramic space heater, table lamp, and overhead lighting, which you can control. Please use the Dimmer switch for ambiance and energy saving....and use the lighted exhaust fan every time when using the basement shower. The area has new dry-wall, shelving, and a project room with storage.. Please remove shoes before entering to reduce maintenance on the carpet...and use a large plate or tray if transporting liquids or food, to minimize spills. TY
The basement area has separate nooks for the W/C (Toilet and sink) - and also a Shower and dressing area, with lighted exhaust fan. When using the shower ALWAYS use the lighted exhaust-fan please. Lock windows, and leave fan, heater, any electric blanket, and lights OFF when you leave the space. Thanks!
You have a private fridge and kitchen sink and mini appliances in the basement utility area. Fine to use the large kitchen also - and put scraped and lightly rinsed dishes in the main floor dishwasher. It's nice and quiet, and can be crammed full before use. Just be sure rotor arm spins freely.

I had just moved to Portland and Julie's place was very convenient to get settled. The room was comfortable, the privacy was greatly appreciated when overcoming jetlag, and Julie was extremely helpful with tips and information about Portland. I would definitely recommend her place to anyone looking to move to this fine city.
Julie was a good host. She was very welcoming when she showed me around the place. I was working a lot during my stay so I didn't interact with Julie much but, the house was good and I had everything I needed during my stay.
I had a great month long stay. I was really busy and only used the place to sleep for the most part. It was perfect for me because I had my own entrance into the basement. There was also my own personal bathroom and shower. Overall, I had a great stay and Julie was very accomodating.
HOME!! CANDIDLY SPEAKING JULIE IS ONE OF THE MOST REMARKABLE PEOPLE THAT I HAVE EVER MET. SHE'S COMPLETELY WELCOMING, UNDERSTANDING, PLEASANT, AND COMPASSIONATE. MY STAY WAS BEYOND TIMELY AND EXTREMELY RELAXING. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A WONDERFULLY COMFORTABLE SPACE TO RESTYYOUR HEAD FOR A FEW DAYS OR LONGER IN PORTLAND, HER HOUSE IS CERTAINLY IT. I'M VERY THANFUL FOR SUCH A TREMENDOUS EXPERIENCE. JULIE'S HOME IS INCREDIBLY DELIGHTFUL AND A MUST STAY. THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!
Great host! I would recommend staying with Julie, she was very helpful in learning the city and had great recommendations. She even was kind enough to invite me to a potluck, what a great host!
The bus stop was literally a few feet from the door to the house and was a fantastic way to explore Portland- Using the marvelous Trimet Systems. Didn't catch much of Julie, but she seemed nice. =] The room was pretty cold, even with the hot weather outside, but then again, it's a basement. One of the few issues encountered: You heard everything the minute anyone woke up, which made sleeping in difficult (even with us 7am-er's). A few other minor things, but it was a fantastic spot to see the city from as all we really needed as a shower and a bed.
Julie has her own busy social schedule, but was accessible and helpful when I needed to get settled in. To say she is a local-knowledge guru is an understatement. I suggest you start a conversation with her to learn something new! Julie was a very pleasant host.
Julie's basement is the perfect place for budget-minded travelers. It's spacious, has everything one needs, and extremely convenient to public transit. And Julie herself is a very gracious and accommodating host. Just an excellent stay.
Our stay was reasonably nice. The room was quite spacious, more like a studio. There's a table to eat at, a bathroom and shower with some toiletries to accommodate guests. Julie was a very sweet host and overall the stay was pleasant and peaceful.
I stayed in Julie's basement room for 30 days during the month of Jan. 2012. The room is very private, quite spacious, has it's own bathroom area, and large closet space. The laundry room along with a refrigerator and small kitchen area (to prepare easy-fix meals) is conveniently located next to the basement bedroom. If more involved cooking is needed, one can use the full kitchen upstairs. I appreciated the main floor cozy living and dining room where it was warm and comfortable for reading and studying. Julie is a very congenial hostess. I was taking a class that required a lot of study, so I wasn't able to take her up on any of her invites to go out for "blues and brews". Maybe the next time I visit Portland.
