Waecicu Bay is situated in the buffer zone of Komodo National Park which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home of the famous Komodo dragons, the largest lizard in the world. Situated in the Coral Triangle, the diving in the park area has been called the best in the world. In Labuan Bajo diving operators offer PADI courses, rental equipment and can take you on dives with professional guides to the most spectacular diving spots like Manta Point and . For those who don't dive snorkelling is the next best thing because there is an abundance of spectacular shallow water coral reefs. On boat-trips to other islands you can often spot turtles, dolphins and manta-rays. Other sites to visit in the area include beautiful waterfalls and caves, bat mangroves, crater lakes, traditional villages where you can enjoy local cultural activities like dances and ikat weaving. Labuan Bajo itself is a buzzing small town with nice restaurants and bars.
