Check out all my listings! :-) Please note, I don't accept reservations more than 3 months in advance...
The Loft is a lovely & light-filled apartment in a waterfront rowhouse in Brooklyn's booming Greenpoint Historic District, on the riverfront just north of bustling Williamsburg. Walk to the Bedford "L" subway stop, or just a few blocks to the Greenpoint "G" stop. East River Ferry service (with multiple stops in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens) is 2 blocks from the house, on the India Street waterfront. Plenty of restaurants, bars, boutiques, cafes, galleries, banks, gyms, etc all within blocks.
800 completely open interior square feet; kitchen, dining area, living room, bedroom nook and private on-floor bathroom. The apartment is located on the 2nd floor of a building which houses an antiques store on the first floor (which has a lovely garden, of which you have a view down below while gazing out at the stellar Manhattan skyline, including a fantastic view of the Empire State and the Chrysler Building!).
Commercial & residential dead-end street, terminating at Transmitter Park on the East River. Full kitchen with gas stove, oven and full-size refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher and washer/dryer. WiFi access. There is no television in this house, because you have better things to do here in NYC! There is a Bose ipod/iphone dock. This sunny loft is furnished with a variety of antiques and modern accessories, and features gorgeous exposed beams and beautiful original wide-plank floors. (*Please note: fireplace is NOT functional!) There is a window A/C unit, and this is an airy apartment with a fantastic cross-current, right on the East River, and in the winter months you'll be toasty warm; this entire building was a loving & complete gut job, with all brand-new electric and plumbing. Please be aware that this street is both commercial & residential; while the noise level is normal for NYC, this is not a "silent" apartment. Closing the front windows at night helps considerably.
Bedroom is a Queen size bed, and sleeper sofa opens to a Double bed.
Regarding the floorplan: It is of course a fully private apartment, it's just an old townhouse layout (the building was built in 1870s) -- your bathroom door and front door are literally right next to each other on the 2nd floor landing, and at the other end of that corridor is the door to the 3rd floor apartment. I own this property with my best friend Alex (a total sweetie) and he lives on the 3rd floor; his apartment is completely self-contained, and you won't be sharing any portion of your space with him.
Privacy & comfort await!
I have a few listings available in this wonderful neighborhood, if you click on my profile you can check them all out.

As was the case with my stay at Maya's other location in Greenpoint, everything was spot-on. Lovely, tastefully decorated, and communication was great.
The only downside was the occasional noise. The listing indeed says: <>
However, the windows were closed (its was around 20 degrees my whole stay--the apartment is warm), but on one night trucks were idling very loud starting at 2:45 a.m. Thanks heavens I had earplugs, but even then it was LOUD. This happened on one other night, too.
And then, on a few other nights, had sporadic loud patrons of the restaurant downstairs rudely celebrating their Greenpoint hipsterdom as they left the restaurant. (Meow….) Or whatever it is that caused them to be really rude at 12:30 a.m. Regardless of the "source," they kept me awake.
This is beyond the normal pale of normal NYC apartment/hotel room noise bleeding in. I would strongly recommend that Maya install another pane of glass/Lexan on the windows, something that would greatly cut down the noise, and would also help insulating the place, lowering that cost. Again, I was very comfortable, temperature-wise.
The bathroom: I expected that having to step outside the door of the apartment would be a problem/inconvenience, but it isn't at all. I never saw Alex (on the third floor) at all, and you don't feel that you're going into a public hallway." It's not quite as warm as the apartment proper (again, it was around 20 deg. for most of my stay), but could be little warmer.
Again, all-in-all, a fantastic place that's highly recommended.
The apartment was great! Maya made sure that we were able to access the loft as soon as possible, and we felt right at home once we came inside. The kitchen and living areas were very clean, and all the facilities we needed were there. Whenever there was an issue, Maya and Alex were quick to respond to texts and calls. Thanks so much for an awesome experience - we hope to come back some day!
The flat is as awesome and well presented as it looks in the photos and Greenpoint is an excellent location. We never met Maya but it was easy to communicate with her by text/email regarding keys etc. Alex, who lives upstairs in the same building, welcomed us to the apartment and gave us a great introduction to the area. A very useful map of local restaurants and shops was also provided which was very much appreciated.
The apartment is very light and airy but still cosy in the winter when we stayed. However, if you're a light sleeper we'd recommend you bring eye shades for the morning light and ear plugs for the early starting trucks that deliver to the warehouse across the street. We slept well and had no problems with this.
Getting to Manhattan or other parts of Brooklyn, such as DUMBO and Williamsburg, from here is easy via the East River Ferry (less than 5 mins walk), G train (5 mins walk) or L train (15-20 mins walk).
We'd definitely stay here again!
There can't be many places in the world where you can have a shower with a view of the Manhattan skyline and the Empire State Building but Maya's fantastic apartment is one of them.
To spend the days (and sometimes nights) exploring NYC but knowing you have such a wonderful place to come back to is a good feeling. The apartment was everything I expected it to be in a great neighbourhood that felt really safe with a fantastic restaurant, (River Styx) literally on the door step. And only a couple of blocks from the East River ferry which is a great way to arrive in Manhattan.
Communication with Maya was excellent and she even offered an additional night should our flight be delayed or cancelled due to the snow. A perfect host.
Thank you Maya.
Martin and Katy
This was my 4th stay at one of Maya's listings and my experience was great, as always. Her places are always my first choice when I come to NYC. Great locations, stunning interiors, incredibly clean, and the nicest & most accommodating host! Thanks again, Maya!
The appartment was amazing! It was clean, very big, good location and the metro was nearby. The communication with Maya was easy and fast. The bathroom was nice too, again a big shower and beautiful decorated, just like the appartment. There were no curtains, that was a bit of a challenge, but eventually that was not a problem at all. The neighbourhood was nice too.
Maya was a great host! The apartment is beautiful and in a neighborhood full of charming places! Thanks for everything. Can't wait to go back to NYC! Thanks.
Mayas place was genuin and very much New York. It was close to one of the ferries so that you could go anywhere.
There was a bar next door that what a cool place.
It is in Greenpoint which is a booming place at the moment.
The place is big and has everything you need. It does not have a tv which was both good and bad. In some ways it is nice to have it just so that you can follow the news and maybe watch a game or so but on the other hand like Maya says, you are not in New York to watch tv.
I will rent this place again when I come to New York.
All the best. A
It is just fabulous !!
A lovely, large and wonderfully clean apartment in an edgy up-and-coming neighborhood. Amazing location with views of Manhattan from the park at the end of the block. Only downsides are the intermittent noises from trucks loading and unloading across the street, the lack of curtains that actually attenuate light and the wi-fi - which is spotty at best. But overall a fantastic place to stay when visiting New York.
