Perfect experience. We weren't able to make it a the check in time so Cathy left us a note at the office telling us that our room was ready to go. Breakfast was decent but who the hell really cares. Thanks Cathy!
Cathy was fantastic and her home was wonderful. Cathy greeted me upon my arrival and did everything throughout my stay to make me feel comfortable - especially since she's knew I was traveling alone. She told me several times to call her if I needed anything at all which I really appreciated. The room was great too - very spacious - and Cathy's home is right in the heart of Kanab, walking distance from food, etc. and just a short drive to Best Friends, where I was spending the week. Cathy's garden (which she made herself) is beautiful and calming. I plan to return to Kanab again in the future and hope to stay with Cathy!
This is a mixed review....which I didn't expect based on the previous reviews of this listing. The room, bathroom and outdoor area are as pictured. Parking is not clear. We never actually met Cathy. Upon arrival we had a note directing us to our room. On the nightstand in the room was a super confusing welcome note - lots of spelling errors, strangely abbreviated words and confusing instructions. The room was warm when we arrived - there is just a small window unit in the kitchen nook of the room. There's windows in the room you can open, but when it's 95 degrees out, that's not going to help anything. There's a ceiling fan, but it makes a loud noise if you put it above the lowest setting. The window unit works, but it's super janky and loud so it's not something you could have on while you were sleeping....which sort of sucked. We turned it on for a bit before bed to cool the room off, but even then you end up hot a few hours later. Cathy also banged on our door at 10:30pm and startled the crap out of us. We were already snuggled up in bed and did not answer the door. Come to find out the next day that she was just knocking to let us know the AC was on.....? That didn't make a whole lot of sense. The water pressure is low so the shower isn't super great. The bathtub takes forever to fill up and you run out of hot water long before even the halfway point. The bed is super uncomfortable - just an old, creaky mattress where you feel the springs in your back. The passes for breakfast were kind of a joke - they get you the breakfast buffet at a nearby lodge, which is just bowls of canned fruit, crappy pancakes and eggs. All in all I think this listing is waaaay over priced and calling it a bed and breakfast is a bit of a stretch. I wouldn't stay here again.
Sorry you had a bad night. When I got home from family member funeral it was 10pm I saw your light on an knocked to see if every thing was alright as I said after emailing you, you probably couldn't hear me knock because the air was on. The room has 3other large windows to open if you want fresh air an it is about 67 degrees at night. It's summer so I don't know anyone who takes a hot bath while complaining about the heat in the room, interesting, anyway I turn the water heater down in the summer and the tub is jetted an deep yes it does take a few to fill up but my water pressure is great. As parking is available it's a driveway pull to one side or the other or park out front of the house it's not rock science. Mattress is not old it's a expensive bed. The ceiling fan is brand new 2weeks old right from Lowe's. You booked the same day you stayed I accommodated you even though I was out of town you knew I waS attending a funeral. We had this conversation. I am confused where this is all coming from. I don't do refunds not when everyone is satisfied but you.
We had a great stay. We chose Kanab because it was in the middle of Zion and Bryce. It was over an hour drive to each, but we preferred this to moving hotels every night in order to stay right next to the parks. The room was great. Bed was comfy and bathroom was huge. The breakfast was a voucher for a buffet breakfast at a nearby lodge. Breakfast is open from 7-10 AM. No TV, but the wifi signal was strong.
Cathy was easy to work with in booking my first Airbnb. We arrived in the late evening (7:30 pm) after our trip to Zion National Park and met Cathy briefly upon our arrival. The cottage was clean, cozy and comfortable. It was very nice to have free wi-fi and a mini-fridge, and we slept like a baby on the nice bed. We were unable to use the breakfast tickets Cathy had provided us since we had to leave at 6:00 am before the Parrys Lodge opened. The location was convenient as we needed a place to stay between Zion and the Grand Canyon and we were able to grab a late dinner at Houstons Trails End that is walking distance.
What a wonderful place! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cathy's place. Beautiful, private accommodations, quiet, peaceful yard and the Koi ponds were so relaxing! I highly recommend Cathy and hopefully will be able to visit her again in the future.
We met Cathy briefly a few hours after we arrived but other than that had little to no contact with her during our 5 night stay. The room was pleasant but we did find the bed noisy and if one of us moved the other was bounced about. The location is ideal for shops and restaurants and the outside seating area is very pleasant.
