Peaceful, Quiet, Relaxing.
We welcome you to our upcountry retreat away from the city in Maui's Upcountry Rain Forest. This is a full 2 bedroom, 2 bath home on 5.5 acres land. We have room for your horse in a fenced-in pasture if you’re traveling to Maui for the rodeo or 4th of July parade. The home is a beautiful vintage style with dark wood walls and bamboo floors. The Master Bedroom has its own Fire Place. There's an inviting Hot Tub on the back deck, full Kitchen with Eating Bar and Dining Room. The place is very clean and has Hawaiian style furniture, art and amenities as shown in the photos. Feel free to email your questions. We're happy to welcome you to our home on the hill.
Clean and spacious house, easy to find and convenient centered location to explore the whole island. Lisa was very responsive.
Very beautiful home. The location was secluded and felt very private. It is a little out of the way but very worth it. I enjoyed being here and would definitely recommend everyone stay here.
We spent four nights at Lisa's place with our two 10-yr olds. It was great, and we highly recommend it! Her place is up the mountain just enough to keep it cool and away from all the tourist destinations, and still not far from the beaches. All of us loved driving back home from a long day of activities. It is far better than staying in one of the big hotels/resorts. Her place is beautiful both inside and out, and very clean. The hot tub is very nice to sit in as you look up at the beautiful stars and Milky Way. The nearby town (under 10 minutes) has good food and conveniences. Overall, an excellent experience.
We had a very relaxing week long stay. Very private and quiet property. Enjoyed using the hot tub after long drives and hiking. Perfect spot to relax and unwind away from the crowds. There are some tight corners on the road up to the property and it is a bit of a drive to the closest beaches but it is in a central location for checking out the canyon and driving along the road to Hana. Very spacious house and a huge outdoor BBQ area too. Perfect for cooking up fresh fish and goodies from Mana Foods in Pāʻia. When we ate out it was mostly in Pāʻia as well. We enjoyed the pizza at the Flatbread Company, burgers at Charlies and Mexican at Millagros.
My wife and I just got back from a 7 night stay at the Maui Olinda Forest Retreat.
The location is beautiful, in a quiet area up in the hills just outside Makawao. If you want to explore the whole island this is actually a very convenient place to use as a starting point!
The garden is huge and the deck (at the back of the house) provides you with a fabulous place to sit and enjoy the morning sun while listening to the birds and the trees, gently swaying in the wind...perfect!
The house itself is great and has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. A nice Bose sound system that you can simply plug your mobile into using a headphone jack (provided), satellite tv, DVD player (large collection of DVD's provided), beach towels, snorkels, etc, etc.
Lisa has done a fantastic job of making sure that you feel at home and have everything you need to make your stay memorable. She phoned us the first evening to make sure that we were not missing anything. And her husband stopped by while we were out to check the condition of the water in the hot tub. Details that shows she really cares about her guests!
We rounded off every evening by lighting a convenient Pine Mountain Fire Log (provided by Lisa) in the bedroom fireplace and then taking a dip in the hot tub (immaculately clean) before snuggling up in bed. It can't get much more romantic than that!
Thank you so much Lisa for making our stay in Maui that much more memorable. I highly recommend your place and if we return to Maui some day we know where we will be staying!

We had an absolutely great time in the beautifull house of Lisa. If you prefer authenticity and don't like big resorts this is the place to be. Situated in the middle of nowhere up a mountain you have the idea you are in the middle of the rain Forrest. And if you want some romantic luxury there is the hot tub and the fireplace in the bedroom.
We took our boys 18 and 22 (both graduation this year) to Maui for 10 days. We stayed at Lisa's house for 3 nights. We wish we had stayed longer. Beautiful, cool comfy
We bought this home for my family. We fixed it up and were raising Alpaca's on the land for years. A few years later we bought a classic 1953 old plantation home in downtown Makawao. We converted the home into a place where our family and friends could stay. We enjoy staying there on the weekends when no one is making use of it. When up there, It’s so beautiful I have a hard time returning to our in-town home Monday morning after a relaxing weekend.
