About This Listing
We had a lovely stay in this charming, centrally located little appartment. It's situated in a lively neighbourhood with delicious street food around the corner, while the beach is just across the street. Cristina is a very warm and friendly person, who picked us up from the bus station by car and helped us making a restaurant reservation. The bathroom is really tiny and the mattres a bit old, but we were very happy with this choice
We had an excellent time staying at Cristina's place! Located near the port in the Kalsa neighbourhood, the apartment comes fully equipped with a kitchen, nice little dining area and double bed. The fish markets out the front each morning are a spectacle, and the proximity to tourist attractions is a highlight. There is a huge supermarket about 5 minutes walk from the place, and whilst it does not have wifi, the cafe around the corner is truly excellent (try their weekend brunch) Cristina went out of her way to accomodate us, providing my partner and I with enough towels and toilet paper for our entire stay, as well as an extra bed for a friend of ours, and little parcels of fruit, chocolate and bread! A great place, and a great host :)
Very nice accomodation and very lovely host!
It was our first accomodation in Sicilly and it met our expectations. Cristina was an amazing host. We arrived 2 hours late due to a huge traffic jam on the way from the airport and she picked us up at the main station and took us to the flat by car. She bought us fresh bread and had ready snacks in the flat including the basic ingredients for cooking. We got the city map from her as well as tips and advice whenever we needed it.
The place was clean and tidy, fully equipped (with enough equipment for decent home cooking) and had a nice traditional decor. The only thing that one had to be careful with was the shower - even though there was a curtain the unit was quiet small so one had difficulties to turn around and do not splash water all over the bathroom . It would be probably more practical to have the whole unit enclosed by sliding door. But this is rather asuggestion than a complaint (I loved the colourfull tiled floor though :).
The street was off the main roads and therefore quiet but still close to shop and restaurants (couple of them literally behind the corner) and the historical part of the town. We highly recomend the street food stall at Piazza della Kalsa - delicious pane e panelle and crocche.
Overally, it was a really nice experience and we are thankful to Cristina for a warm welcome :)
Cristina was waiting for us when we arrived to the apartment, she gave us a good review of the Kalsa zone. Cristinas' apartment is a very very typical Parlermitan neighborhood, we probably were the only tourist in the street which made us fell the real Palermo atmosphere. The apartment is well equipped with everything needed for a pleasant stay. The apartment is fitted with a small bathroom and a kitchen with a good refrigerator and all the basic kitchen utensils. The kitchen is placed in a loft. The apartment can get a bit warm but with the use of the ceiling fan and an extra bed fan we feel comfortable. A five minute walk from the apartment you can find all kind of restaurants and cafes and gellaterias and supermarket. The Bar in the corner of Lincoln and Via N. Cervello just 5 minutes walf form the apartment is one of the best I ever tried in Italy , it is open from very early in the morning until midnight. I will also recommend the flea market in Piazza Marina (Sunday mornings) it is very interesting to said the least. Overall, Crisitinas' apartment is a good place to satay and experience the real Palermo.
The apartment is okay. One big plus is the location, as it is situated in a really nice neighborhood - cafes and restaurants are close and you can walk just everywhere in the old city. The apartment is on the ground floor in a small quite street. Unfortunately the mattress is probably a very old spring mattress, so the springs are pushing extremely into your back, that wasn't very comfortable and we didn't sleep very well. The bathroom is pretty small, even for one person. All in all the stay was alright.
