We enjoyed our stay at the jungle house. It was cool enough at night that having no ac wasn't an issue. Puerto Viejo is just a short 10-15 min drive away with many choices to eat. The property managers were very helpful and eager to help us with anything we needed. They also brought us coconuts, bananas etc almost daily. A magical house in a quiet location in the middle of nature.

This place is incredible. Very clean and very well kept, with a great ambiance. The caretakers are incredibly nice, they do only speak Spanish but it's totally ok because then you can practice your Spanish! Marco is incredibly awesome! Answered all of my questions and had great suggestions of local hot spots! There is wild life all around the house and is a great location, very close to the local town, but also not too far from a slightly bigger town just north! If your looking to stay in this area I HIGHLY suggest this place!! Pura Vida!!

I can not say enough good things about my experience here. Manzanillo is a magical place and I will return here to visit as soon as I can. Marco is great with communicating and Lucy and Fernando are just amazing. My Spanish is weak at best but between my basics and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) translate we became fast friends. The last night we paid them to cook a meal for us. They cooked the rice and beans over a fire which the kids just loved. Our favorite place in town to eat was Soda Mima! We made use of the bikes for three days which was nice for riding the kids in to town and the beaches. They aren't in the best of shape so I felt the 10$ a day per bike was steep but then again it's better than renting a car. Our favorite beach was at the end of town across the bridge. It's great for snorkeling. Back up the road, playa uva has amazing spots to lounge and very kid friendly waves for swimming. Last but not least, you must keep the windows open to the screens because of the heat. Surprisingly between this and the fans the house stays quite cool. However, If you like to sleep in you have another thing coming! All manner of creatures come alive well before day break and you can hear it all like yours sleeping outside! My favorite part of the house is the porch. Every night we lounged outside till almost midnight listening to the sounds and talking. Almost right on cue as soon as we tucked in to the bed under our nets the rain would come and put us to sleep. My kind of heaven. If you find yourself in Manzanillo, I highly recommend staying With Marco, Lucy and Fernando. You won't be disappointed!

Marco was helpful and gave good tips on getting there. Guillermo was very helpful to locate the house and also any issues when we needed help. Fernando and Lucy - the care takes of the property and caring and kind people. They helped us when we needed laundry and were always smiling. We'd like to write them a post card - if we can get the address.

The place is wonderful and our hosts (Lucy and Fernando) are amazing Costa Rican people, incredibly friendly and honest. Marcos wasn't around but he responded promptly to all our questions and requests. We loved that! The house is big enough, comfortable, super clean, much nicer than in the pictures. Lucy was super attentive and gave a nice touch to our stay there. The "garden" is amazing. You have a good sense of really being in the jungle, because you are. The house has great privacy even with Lucy and Fernando living very close. They provide a constant feeling of safety around, which is great if you are coming with children or alone. Fernando knows a lot about the area, because they have been living in Manzanillo for 40 years! He knows how everything have changed and they love to share this with you, if you are curious. You need to speak some Spanish, because they don't speak english, but well that is the reason you go to a foreign country right, to challenge yourself and make friends with local people.

Great hidden gem on the road less traveled in Costa Rica. Very large space surrounded by lush jungle. Sat on the back porch for hours watching monkeys, toucans and all sorts of other birds. The sounds are mesmerizing from both birds and howler monkeys. Shower is awesome, large kitchen, and bathroom is more than adequate. Caretakers on site were wonderful and friendly. Large gate...felt very safe. Rode their bikes to town and incredible beach just down the street. Would definitely return.......

Our experience here was perfect. We were met by the groundskeeper and given the keys and even suggestions of where to eat. The place itself is great, with all the amenities you may need. We never cooked, though, because the food in the area was so good. It was so cool, too, to hear the howler monkeys in the middle of the night or to be visited by a toucan in the back porch. I love Manzanillo!
