  • This is convenient lodging for visiting Ardfert and the surrounding area. Fran greeted us and showed us the ins and outs of the home which dates from 1847, and requires a bit of care and feeding such as putting a 2 Euro coin in a meter to turn on electricity (which will probably last a day or two depending upon your electricity usage), and turning on the oil heater for hot water in the morning. It's only a block to the town square, the historic cathedral, and places to eat. Fran recommended Kate Brown's for eating, and we found that was a very good recommendation, and we ended up eating two dinners and one breakfast there. Fran was also a great source of local history as were the books and pamphlets in the living room there. We only used one of the three bedrooms, and didn't cook there, so it was larger than what we needed, and would easily fit a larger family (and even had both upstairs and downstairs bedrooms). It was very clean, and we were left fresh brown bread and fruit which was a nice touch, and Fran was just a text away for any questions or help you might need.

  • This house is huge. It has 3 full bedrooms with a very large master. We were only a couple with a baby so it was a little overkill for us but if you have a large group / family you'll be well accommodated. It's clean and comes with everything you'll need even if a little dated - probably the equivalent of a 2 star B&B. Fran was very welcoming and friendly and the tip of Kate Browne's pub is a great one. Don't be scared off by the coin meter for electricity - we were a little afraid that the fridge would turn off in the middle of the night but each 2 euros actually lasts a decent amount of time. We might have to put one of these in our own home so that people actually turn off the lights.... Wifi is a little slow and don't forget towels (Fran was nice enough to provide some as we didn't have any). Ardfert is a small little town but quite well located to a lot of what Kerry has to offer.

  • We loved the house and Fran was so nice and accommodating. Combined with a lovely evening with a trad music session at the nearby Kate Brown's pub, this was a highlight of our trip!

  • Fran was a very friendly and welcoming host, she even had some lovely baking waiting for us when we arrived. The house lovely, nice and spacious and in a great location. Would highly recommend staying here.
