Our 2-story log cabin (approx. 1,700 sq. ft.) provides plenty of outdoor refreshment with a spacious front porch and back deck with a dual gas/charcoal grill, balcony, wooden swing, and a firepit with plenty of cut firewood. It sits within a private holler on 105 acres along the edge of the Daniel Boone National Forest. The rustic-chic decor inside combines antique furnishings, repurposed barn wood paneling, unique lighting, electric fireplace, and a claw-footed tub amidst modern conveniences.

The space
Our dream cabin (approx. 1,700 sq. ft.) includes repurposed barn wood from two barns that Shawn dismantled in IN. The location is close to many outdoor activities including ATV and horse trails close by and a 20-minute drive to the artisan town of Berea. Day trips of under an hour or within two hours brings you to the beauty of Kentucky, “heaven on earth,” as described by Daniel Boone himself (The Pinnacles (17 minutes away) to the north, Flat Lick Falls to the East, Lake Cumberland to the South, Red River Gorge, and Natural Bridge to the North East to name a few). If you prefer a quiet get-away, our cabin is in a holler, in the woods, providing privacy in a natural setting.

Guest access
You will have access to the entire cabin (approx. 1,700 sq. ft.) and the immediate property. Hiking through the woods on property is allowed. Please note that at this time there are no marked trails on our property. You would be walking through virgin woods.

Other things to note
Our cabin sits on a hillside within a holler. Use discretion with younger children.

Koda the bear is available for pictures, but NO CLIMBING the bear (for your personal safety).

There is hand soap provided at each sink and dish detergent as well as dishwasher detergent for your convenience.
Please supply your own personal toiletries and laundry soap.

The gas grill also has a separate area for charcoal. Please supply your own bag of briquettes..

We provide the coffee, but with a full kitchen, be sure to bring your own groceries and don't forget some steaks for the grill!

Visitor's Policy: In order to maintain the beauty of our cabin, daytime visiting guests are limited to up to 4 (depending upon how many registered guests are staying at the cabin). No nonpaying overnight guests are allowed. You must inquire with our co-host before check-in for permission.

No firearms whatsoever are allowed on the property or in the cabin without explicit permission from the owners. NO exceptions.

The owners, Shawn & Karen, enjoy traveling from camping, Rv-ing, and international travel. We even cruised the French Polynesian islands on a large sailboat! We both relish hiking in local, state, and national parks. We partake in short mission trips both here in the United States and abroad from Kentucky and South Dakota all the way to Mexico, Austria, and Russia. While at home, Shawn is an outdoorsman and Karen is a quilter. Cozying up to a good book with our two pups is a pleasant way to spend an evening together. While Shawn, a history buff, reads historical biographies, Karen enjoys an eclectic taste. Our two adult children are also our companions as Shawn and Drew faithfully attend the Indianapolis 500 and Brickyard 400, Marvel and action movies (you tube @ House of Ideas Historian), and field and stream sports both home and away. Karen and Brooke have traveled together, hiked, and enjoyed live theater, ballet, and musicals. Once a month, we travel from Indianapolis to Kentucky to spend a weekend enjoying our dream cabin in the quiet serenity of the woods. Co-hosting with our friends, Theresa & Rick, has been a true blessing as they share their gift of Southern hospitality!
