Best way to reach us is by message through Airbnb.
There is a bus to Montezuma 300 meters on the main street that goes between Montezuma and Cobano. There are also taxis
Please be sure to lock your valuables in the safe room. If you will be gone from the house over night or a few days please let Mercedes know so she can keep an eye on the place. Linen and towels are provided but please do not take our towels to the beach. You will have to either bring or purchase beach towels as we have replaced them many times and they always seen to disappear. Please remember you are in Costa Rica a few rules,
- The hot water is solar so if you would like enough hot water for showers do not run hot water for washing dishes just a quick last hot rinse ( most Costa Ricans do not use hot water to wash dishes)
- do not leave your electronics plugged into the wall during a storm
-do not leave the air conditioner on when not at home in fact just open doors and windows and the fan and the rooms will cool enough with out the air conditioner
- please throw toilet paper in a plastic lined trash can to avoid problems with the plumbing
- There are 2 propane tanks for cooking if one empties out please refill it at the Montezuma Super.
- be careful what you leave on the dining table as the Uracas (the blue birds and the monkeys love to steal fruit, crackers and even small shiny object like keys and will drop them in the jungle never to be found!!
Most of all have a blast This is an experience!!
What we were unpleasantly surprised to find upon arrival was this: twenty feet from the pool is a tiny house with a local couple and their part time child. Their door opens up to our pool so it's not nearly as private as the picture shows. The pictures in the ad are from before the tiny house was built. That couple used our oven several times a week and we heard them above us in our kitchen when we were in bed, one time they took all our wine glasses which they never returned. They also used our home to do their laundry. Although there is a path for them to go around the back of our house to theirs, many times they just cut through our pool area which prevented us from spending our time in the pool unclothed. We had no idea other people would be using our house and yard from the description or correspondence and it wasn't as private as we like. Other than that, we liked the house. It's what we look for in all the continents - a safari house where the wildlife comes to us. We loved the outdoor layout of the kitchen and living area. There are frequent electricity interruptions but they seldom last more than a few minutes. The internet is good. The hosts never contacted us. They leave it all to the guy in the little house by our pool whose only job seems to be putting chem tabs in the pool, draining excess pool water, and retrieving new guests from Montezuma.
The Care taker has been fired!!
Thank you for letting us know the situation. We are horrified at how the care taker behaved he was to live at the small cabin by himself we did not know he had someone else living with him and stressed to him that when the house was rented he was to keep out of the way and give privacy to the guests. He did not have the right to use the kitchen or the laundry room while guests were there and we made the path behind the house so he would not have to go by the pool. I cannot believe how rude he was. We fired him as soon as I saw your comments and let him know he had to leave right away as I did not want him to be there when the next guests arrive. We are presently in Seattle for the summer and can be easily reached by email, since you were the first guests that checked in since we got the care taker we had no idea that there was a problem. Since we did not hear from you I assumed that everything was OK. If you would have let us know all of this right away we could have delt with the situation and you could have enjoyed your vacation. If you ever decide to come back for a stay in Montezuma we would like to offer you a free week at our place without care taker.
I enjoyed my stay at Rose and Glen's Montezuma home. I stayed for a month and became quite accustomed to Costa Rica living. The house is located out of town (which is nice for the privacy) and the road to town is a steep hill that seems a little intimidating the first few times walking to town but by the end of my stay, I looked forward to it. You can also catch the bus and or taxi to town and back. Rose and Glen were quick to respond to any questions I had prior to, and during my stay. They have a property manager, Mercedes, locally and she is a wonderful person. She was quick to respond to any questions and/or problems at the house. She is fluent in English and knows a lot about the area. I loved Montezuma and the the surrounding areas. No regrets staying here.
We had a great stay here in Montezuma. Rose and Glen's house is in a great location - close enough to get to town easily (10-15 min walking, 5 min by car), but far enough away to relax and get away from it all. We spent a lot of time enjoying the view, the pool and just soaking up the "pura vida." The house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
We've stayed in this house 1 month and we really enjoyed it. The house is even better than on the photos - it was big enough for 4 persons, very cosy, it has everything what you need. The pool was very clean, the kitchen is good equipped (i could cook every day during our stay), the garden is green and fresh even during the dry season. the view from the upper terrase is amazing, we are really missing it now. The beach is not far, just 15-20 min walking. But the house is on a hill, so the way back is a good fitness training. if you don't like it, you may take a taxi for 3 000 colones.
We did not meet with Rose and Glen, but we always had possibility to connect them. There also was a very kind and helpful Mercedes, who was ready to help us with any problem. She speaks english very good, what makes communication easy.
So, we really loved our stay in this beautiful house and can recommend it to everyone.
Rose & Glen's home is fantastic! The kitchen is very well equipped, the pool very refreshing and the views amazing. Everything was clean and in good working order and we enjoyed the outdoor living space. Short drive or walk into town and nice breeze at night. We would definitely stay here again if we're lucky enough to make it back to Costa Rica!
Amazing and incredible is how I regard this experience. What I love about renting special places on airbnb is experiencing a different type of house from the one you live on right now. Rose & Glen's house is just that. A treehouse in the forest, only comfortable and amazing.
The location is gorgeous, the view is fantastic. To the right it's pure virgin jungle, to the front it's the ocean, to the left more ocean. You are totally private but not alone. Montezuma is 5 minutes away by car.
The house was very comfortable and it's worth it alone for the pool which we used each day. The main room was great and the showers and bathrooms were perfect with lots of closet space. The secondary bedroom is in the back and even though it doesn't have air conditioner we discovered that it was perfect at night with two powerful fans and my mom who loves air co slept like a baby there. The kitchen was well equipped too.
The kitchen and top floor was where we spent most of our time, talking, eating and looking at the view. Each day monkeys, birds and iguanas showed up to say hi.
I highly recommend this house for someone that wants to go to the beaches of Montezuma but wants to stay in nature in a laid back house. 5 stars.
Bring your camera as the porch of this home will offer so many opportunities! True jungle experience.
