About this listing

What is great about our location is that we are outside of La Fortuna, about 18 miles east. (20 minutes)
Private, secluded, local and out of the beaten path!
The villa looks out on horse pastures and misty mountains. Fresh soft breezes cool the generous kitchen/dining area. Lush gardens are all around you, emitting night scents and day scents that leave you smiling. Pick fresh fruit from the citric orchard and squeeze your breakfast juice

You are as quiet and private and isolated as you want. Or wander down to the stables - play with the pets, feed some animals, or watch the horses in training. Horses are available for riding (additional cost). The ATV's are fun, too. And if you wish to see the world from above, we operate the only hot air balloon in Central America.

This place was such a gem! My and my best friend stayed here for 4 days. The place is surrounded with green. The room and bathroom are connected and then the kitchen is right next door.. all under the same roof but no access from the room. It wasn't a problem for us. Theres a pool on the property, shared with a couple other villas. We spent a whole day there and only seen one person. There's also ATV and horseback riding on the property, we did both with our guide Alonso. He was awesome!! So patient with my girlfriend who wasn't too fond of horsing back riding and couldn't see very well on the way back from ATV's. There's a grocery store less than 10min away, we went there our first day and bought enough food for our stay. The Sodas are an alternative option to cooking, and there are at least 5 within a 5min drive. Highly recommend 4wheel drive and also arriving during daylight, we arrived pretty late and it was pitch black and a rocky road to get to the property. Overall, I loved my stay at this property. I felt really connected to nature. I live in NY now so it was a very nice break, I would stay here again and for longer next time. Favorite part of my trip was waking up on the ranch and exploring the land around.

My wife, 18 month old son and I stayed at Esteban's accommodations in January 2017. Esteban and his family were extremely welcoming and friendly, and his accommodations were amazing. The location provides great access to La Fortuna, Arenal and surrounding areas, all while maintaining a perfect level of privacy. Suites feature a wall of windows to look out over the jungle, allowing us a great view of birds, including Toucans! The horses kept on site were in incredible condition, and there were also pigs and peacocks which delighted our son. The two family dogs were very friendly and accompanied us on walks around the property. If you have a chance, stay here and enjoy all of the beauty that Costa Rica can offer!

Amazing place to stay! It was a beautiful property in a great area with lots to do. Esteban and the rest of the crew were great! We felt very safe, relaxed and secluded. Definitely will be back there if we get the chance to travel back to Costa Rica.

We had a very enjoyable time at Esteban's place! The villa was exactly as the pictures suggested, with a beautiful view. Felt very safe and at ease on the property. Esteban was super easy to communicate with before and during our stay. He was very helpful in making sure we did all the activities we had wanted, and even called ahead to a few places to make sure it was a good day/to make reservations. There was also daily housekeeping, which was a nice and unexpected surprise. The most helpful recommendation to fellow travelers who stay here: Get a 4x4 rental, you will need it! :) Overall great experience, would recommend to fellow travelers!!

My stay at Esteban's ranch was amazing. The view from the room is breathtaking. The location is safe and pretty accessible for everything you will need. I do recommend renting a 4x4 for the roads. I rented my Suzuki Jimny (small but all you need for two people which we used to drive across the beautiful country to Guanacaste) through Esteban and his Alamo account.(he got me the cheapest price I could find). The ranch itself has a lot to offer. Me and my girlfriend took advantage of the ATV ride to the hot springs with Daniel who is super friendly and knowledgeable about the area. (plants and wildlife etc) They also offer horseback riding and Esteban also has a HOT AIR BALOON! Which he pilots. Esteban also set up a zip line tour for us as well.(Awesome Time) All and all the experience at the ranch was spectacular. Would definitely recommend staying here if you want to stay in central Costa Rica. All activities are near this area. The staff is friendly and the dog Gypsy was a pleasant daily visit, thanks Esteban and Daniel for a great experience in Costa Rica. PURA VIDA!

When it comes to travel - I am a planner, and when I arrived to Esteban's beautiful ranch in a quiet town outside of La Fortuna, Esteban happily took it into his own hands to organize our vacation, because I somehow had nothing planned for this trip. On his (amazing) ranch you can horseback ride through sugarcane and pineapple fields, ATV to a local, off the tourist radar geothermal hot spring, swim in his pool, etc. Esteban knows many people in the area and planned out our excursions for zip lining and repelling. The ranch is more beautiful than it looks in photos, is very safe and you wake up and spend your day truly feeling like you are in Costa Rica. Pura vida!
