We had a wonderful two nights stay at Gwinganna retreat. It is a beautiful and very cosy small house, including a couple of extra buildings with extra beds if needed and a table tennis and pool table, which was much enjoyed by our kids. The garden is also stunning, as are the views. Finding the house was slightly tricky as it was dark and rainy and the GPS was giving us wrong directions, but Mark was very helpful on the phone.
We had a brilliant stay at killala retreat (gwinganna). The house had everything we needed, and mark answered all our questions before we arrived. The house and property is a beautiful place to stay inside and out. Can't wait to return.
Mark was quick to respond to our original inquiry, and very easy to work with throughout our stay. This is a very cosy and comfortable place to stay, and we enjoyed the warm glow of the wood fireplace and some family ping pong and pool games in the rec room. Once you're there, it is a comfortable, well appointed and in a beautiful setting.
The only reservation we have about the place has nothing to do with the place, but rather with the 5.5 KM narrow dirt road leading up to it. We only drove that road during daylight hours, and we never experienced a car coming the other way; night driving or navigating opposing traffic could be difficult for some drivers.
This property is outstanding! Everything was just as promised or better. Stayed here for a week and left feeling rejuvenated and relaxed. If you're into design, this place is it! So many details inside and out, very unique! The drive to Apollo Bay is a quick 15 minutes if you need anything or don't feel like cooking dinner. Also, this is the obvious jumping off point to explore the Twelve Apostles area... Just make sure you leave time to enjoy your retreat and play a few games of ping-pong! I will definitely be back.
This place is wonderful - surrounded by a beautiful garden and just beyond that is a stunning natural landscape. Good kitchen, comfortable beds, pot belly fire and great sitting spots outside with lots of native birds about the place. We will be back!
The Killala Retreat is an incredible place to stay. Perched up on a hillside behind Apollo Bay overlooking a beautiful valley and adjacent to the state forrest, it is both peaceful and breathtaking. The house is warm, clean, and full of interesting art. The house is surrounded with a great garden and plenty of opportunities to take in the view. We had an amazing stay here and would highly recommend it.
