Eco Garden is a lovely property in a great spot. Close enough to walk everywhere but lovely and quiet.
Even though there wasn't all day parking out front, it wasn't really a hassle.
Beds were comfy, bathroom clean and the heater was really efficient. It was nice looking out onto the garden and chooks.
David was really helpful.
Thanks for David to put in holiday rental this beautiful eco house in Bondi! Very good location in the quiet part of Bondi, in a leafy street, which can be highly appreciated in busy summer months.
Only 10minutes walk to the beach or buses to go to the city. Bondi junction (bus center + shopping center) is only at 20-25 minutes walk away.
We stayed in the red upper floor 2BR apartment, which is spacious and beautifully decorated with scandinavian style furnitures and artworks in walls. Large beds with good matresses, though pillows are a little bit tired. Everything was extremely clean and tidy.
As said before, the kitchen is a basic one with limited number of items (plates, cutlery, etc), but the owners living in the house can lent missing items of needed and gently proposes also to use their fully equipped kitchen.
We stayed here in winter months, and even that we had a beautiful sunny weather, in was cold weather. But there is a gas heating in the living area, and David provided us a complementary heating for the bathroom. This is not the case everywhere; houses and apartments can be very cold because of lack of insulated walls, lack of heating and simple glazing.
Some peuple might need following information; there is no washing or dish machine, oven, or television. The bathroom had an old fashion tap, with no hand set. Use of shower cap resolves this problem of you don't want to wet your haïr at every shower :D. Note there is no access to garden from this apartement, which seems to be the case of apartment in the garden level (looked like there is a terrace with a barbecue).
We were happy to have twice a week a breakfast delivery - organic eggs, milk and wonderful bread ! And to see that basic products as cooking oil, salt, pepper, tea, coffee, dish liquide, toilet paper, shower gel, shampooing.. are provided.
We were very pleased to stay in this apartment, and would love to come back. Special thanks to David to propose us to come early in the morning directly from the airport (there was nobody the night before) - highly appreciated when travelling with a child. David was very helpful and also kept contact with us by text messages. Mille merci!
We stayed at the Red room at the Eco garden recently for 4 nights, and we had an amazing time. The hosts were very welcoming and attentive. We had some delicious bread and eggs delivered to our door, and lovely butter and spreads. Being invited to forage for some greens in the garden beds was also lovely, and made for some tasty salad! The chickens were a major hit with the kids, and we loved the warm and peaceful feel of the apartment, which was more spacious than we anticipated. The rooms were very comfortable, and I think we all slept better than we do at home, perhaps in part related to all the on foot exploring we did during thed day!
The location couldn't be better, we loved exploring nearby haunts, and we really appreciated getting the hosts' personal recommendations for best coffee shop, eateries and the like. The beach was walking distance, and so was a great playground. We regularly used public transport during our stay and found it accessible and timely.
We also really appreciated and admired the philosophy of the Eco Garden, and found it an inspiring place to stay.
This was the perfect way to experience Bondi, everything was perfectly perfect! From my very last minute booking to leaving luggage behind Dave and Lu were more responsive than any family member could dream of being. The red room was appointed in the most divine way and the beds and pillows were very hard to move oneself from. I often found myself gazing at the vista from the kitchen window, almost mediative watching the chickens do their thing around the pond and lush permaculture garden......Farm style breakfast, thank you! The parsley in the front garden was cropped rather well by myself as my culinary treat as I skipped out from the picket gate down the street to saturate myself in the Bondi experience. Joy!
Stepping into this wonderful green haven in the centre of Bondi Beach is like taking a break from the city. At the back, the large trees, birds and chicken coop are the perfect extension to this sustainable home where David and Lu (the hosts) had placed an organic bread loaf, fresh eggs, butter and jam alongside a bouquet of fresh flowers as a welcoming touch.
Intelligently recycled furniture and minimal interiors further create an instant sense of wellbeing.
Literally, Eco Gardens was a place one instantly calls Home.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the "Red" apartment at the Eco Garden... it was a big part of what made our stay in Bondi Beach so special! The apartment was clean and bright, peaceful and comfortable... we felt so welcomed and right at home there. The welcome basket of eggs, organic bread, honey, and wine was such a thoughtful touch (and delicious!). Liza was so kind and helpful with directions in how best to "get around" the city, how to get to know the chooks, and how to meet all of our other needs. What a convenient location, too!! We could walk to the bus stop in 5 minutes (to go anywhere in Sydney and beyond) and about 2 more minutes to the glorious Bondi Beach... we were minutes away from hustle and bustle, yet our apartment was a peaceful quiet haven to go "home" to after our busy days. We highly recommend this apartment!
Great location near Bondi Beach. A leafy retreat amongst trees with great outdoor areas and view of chooks and tennis court. Beautiful designer furniture features, and great taste in complimentary wine, eggs, and bread. Stylish Aussie retreat.

About the Host, David
I am an entrepreneur passionate about design and how it can be used to inspire change. I love working on projects that make a real difference to peoples lives and, in particular, experiencing the incredible impact it can have at the local level re-building connections while we transition to sustainable communities. I have 4 beautiful Rhode Island Red hens and 2 busy bee hives and must admit i'm slightly addicted to eggs and honey. My guests tend to leave that way too!
