Fully renovated apartment located in the "Castello" neighbourhood, the old part of Venice. Rational layout and modern interiors. On the first level you will find a double bedroom, a common lounge area with elegant and comfortable furnishings including a single and a double sofa bed that can accommodate three people. The second level gives access to a lovely open space with a double bed and a chair bed. The kitchen is fully equipped with a living area and dining area. The apartment has air conditioning, satellite TV, DVD (PAL and NTCS), a washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, Italian and American coffee makers and ironing board.
The apartment is located in the "Castello" neighbourhood, in the heart of the city centre, just a few minutes away from Saint Mark's neighbourhood and the wonderful Saint Mark's square. It combines the features of the two neighbourhoods, worldly St. Mark with its prestigious boutiques, glass craft shops and restaurants, and the "Castello" neighbourhood more popular with local fruit and fish markets which offer picturesque images that belong to other times. Two sides of the same city, multifaceted and timeless. The "Palazzo Ducale"- Doge's Palace, the Bridge of Sighs, the "Biennale" and "Arsenale" are easily reachable on foot while the islands of Murano and Burano are connected by the near ferry dock. The apartment Dolce Vita is located in a typical and quiet street a few steps away from the Arsenale. It is easy to reach from the Marco Polo airport, the train station and the car parks in Piazzale Roma.
Bien placé. Pratique. Très bon séjour
Our stay in the house would have been way better if some further requirements were met. First and foremost, the manager Mr. Marco gave us defective information as far as our security in the house was concerned. Second, the reality of what you meet is not depicted, in the pictures uploaded (one of the rooms is in the attic and you have to stoop, being in danger of hitting somewhere, while the bathroom is immeasurable small). However, the biggest problem is the exterior door of the apartment which is (WATCH OUT FOR THAT) a simple interior sliding apartment door with a lock, which was the cause of strangers breaking into the house and robbing us. When we reached Mr. Marco after the event, so that the lock of the sliding door of the apartment which was broken into could be fixed so that we could be able to sleep after the robbery, he indifferently informed us to merely lock the central door and wait until next day that the technician could come and fix the door, as it indeed happened. Mr. Marco, when giving us information about the use of the house (where the plates were and that we have to clean them before leaving) due to his rush of getting over with it, forgot to tell us the MOST IMPORTANT thing, which was to always lock the exterior door. If he had done so, we would abide by it, as we were already feeling insecure with such a door, something that we did mention to him when he was showing us how it locks. He also forgot to tell that to the people renting the first-floor-apartment, as they informed us, resulting in them,as well, not locking the central door, which was of easy access to the thieves.
In our calls after the incident of the robbery, he did not show any sensibility or disposal to help us, which gave us the worst impression. Having said all the above, you should be able to judge youselves whether staying in Dolce is worth it or not.
If there's a mafia in Italy, it's Bianco Holidays. This company manages 32 of the 'better' mid-range properties in Venice, often leaving you with no other options. The 95 Euro cleaning fee is a joke considering our dishes were covered in grease and when pointed out to the management company that the dishwasher was probably broken, they did nothing to remedy the situation. Our check-in person, Luka, told us the 95 Euro was actually for the Meet & Greet, which is just extortionate. Luka knew nothing about the apartment (how to operate the heat, most importantly) and never even offered to roll one of our suitcases, but seemingly huffed and puffed since we weren't keeping up with him on the cobblestone streets. When he tried to show us how to operate the (broken) dishwasher, a long piece of the cabinet fell off and he just said, 'Oh F**k' and left it on the (website hidden) Dolce Vita apartment looks like it does in the pictures, but much more run down and with little sense of security due to it's sliding 'front door'. I wish the owner had invested the money they spent on 3 flat screen TVs on some much needed upgrades. Oh, did I mention there was a giant bloodstain on the comforter?
