The Space

The house is brand new, sparkling clean, and has a nifty pool. The quintessential 360 degree views of rice fields, jungle and volcanoes makes this house quite special.

Guest Access

Guests are totally welcome to make use of the pool, kitchen, and other shared spaces.

Interaction with Guests

I'm generally around and happy to show you around, give you some tips, and join you for some yummy food.

The Neighborhood

Sanggingan is set just outside of the main bustle of Ubud, but still allows for super speedy access to everything Ubud has to offer. Sanggingan is blessed with a killer Italian restaurant, a most excellent Indonesian Warung, an awesome (and pretty cheap) spa and of course the famous (but if slightly overrated) Naughty Nuri's.

Getting around

You're life will be easier if you're comfortable in riding a scooter. But it's still only a short work to the main road where you're able to grab a taxi.

  • This was an excellent place to stay, and a great spot to start discovering Ubud.

First thing you need to know is, the location is a bit far from downtown Ubud. There is a lot to do in the area near where this listing is located, but if you want to go check out the more popular spots in Ubud, you're gonna need to rent a scooter. But honestly, if you're in Bali, you should be renting a scooter anyway; riding around here is too much fun not to!

Also note that you're gonna have to ride/hike for a few minutes along an unlit walkway through the rice paddies to get home. It's super safe over here; Keith maintains great relations with the neighbors, and you won't bump into any strangers in the middle of the night.

But it will be freaky to walk through the fields in complete darkness if you're not used to that sort of thing. Be sure to plan accordingly, and pack a flashlight (Keith will provide one for you when you arrive because he's awesome like that).

Ok, with that out of the way, let's talk about why this place (and Keith) rock!

First, we have to talk about the ambience. You'll be staying in one of the most beautiful, peaceful and calming spots in town. It's an incredible experience, especially if you're used to the hustle and bustle of city life.

The room itself is quite cozy, a good fit for both singles and pairs (romantic or otherwise). The furnishings are a tad spartan, so if you like to spread out when you move into a place, you may need to get a little creative. But it's more fun to spend time in the common area anyway.

Internet access is a tad spotty (hey, it's Bali; what did you expect?), but during the day there is generally plenty of bandwidth for (website hidden) calls, and I was also able to upload videos to Youtube in the evenings with no problems. At its fastest, I noticed speeds a little north of 4 mbps — both upload and download.

As I noted above, the location is a tad far from downtown Ubud, but there is still plenty of dining, shopping, spas, groceries and services nearby. You will definitely still feel connected!

Keith was absolutely fantastic during my stay. He is well-integrated into the community, he knows where all the cool stuff is and can help you locate just about anything that you need. Keith also has formed good relationships with the neighbors in the area, and they all watch out for each other, so you won't have to worry about safety while you're here.

Lastly, note that digital nomads like to stay at this place. If you are an internet entrepreneur yourself, you will fit right into the culture here, and there's always somebody new to meet or some event to check out!

Final verdict: I had a great time here! Thanks Keith!

  • Keith is an amazing host and his villa is placed in an extremely beautiful and tranquil setting surrounded by rice fields.

Keith does a great job of making you feel welcome. When I opened the door to my room there was a goodie-bag waiting for me on the bed with brochures, a list of good restaurants, spas and places to visit and general recommendations for Ubud. It definitely felt that Keith had put some serious time and consideration into preparing this neat package.

The villa in itself is really nice and modern and the other people staying at the villa are really friendly as well. My room in the villa had a nice and big bath room, A/C and access to fast Internet/Wi-Fi.

The villa has got a killer infinity pool with a great view of the rice fields. Be sure to watch the sunset from the pool - definitely recommended!

The place is located in a very interesting location and you have to walk on a quite narrow path (not accessible by car) to get there. It takes about 6-7 minutes by foot from the main road and 2-3 minutes by scooter.

On the main road you'll find a lot of restaurants and driving approximately 10-15 minutes by scooter you'll reach the center of Ubud. If you want to check out Monkey Forest it's about 15-20 minutes by scooter from the house.

Given its location I'd say the villa is a perfect place to hang out for a while and relax. There's no sound of traffic or anything like that, the only thing you'll hear is the sound of frogs, gecko lizards, birds and insects. Totally relaxing :).

Given the location as well as the really fast Internet it's also a great place for someone visiting Bali/Ubud for a work-vacation. You can definitely focus and get some work done at the villa. There's also a ton of nice cafés/restaurants in the area as well as the co-working space Hubud (~15 minutes by scooter) close by.

Definitely consider staying at Keith's villa if you're thinking of heading to Ubud!

  • Great stay at Keiths place. This house and setting is so beautiful and peaceful. I would really recommend it to anyone looking for a retreat at Ubud. As it is set back from the road you feel quite removed from the business of the town. Ideal location. Keith is very hospitable

  • Keith welcomed us in his comfortable and modern house, where we felt at home from the start. He gave us some really good advice on what to do and see, in and outside of Ubud and we are very pleased with how our vacation turned out. We stayed for four nights, but wish we had time to stay longer, as we truly enjoyed our stay. My boyfriend and I highly recommend Keith as a host and wish him good luck. We hope to come back in the near future.
