Mojave Moon is a two bed, one bath 1958 homestead in Yucca Valley, CA located 15 minutes from the west entrance of Joshua Tree National Park.

This home was designed as a retreat from daily life where you can relax, recharge, and refocus. Every amenity was selected to elevate your stay: from starting your day with fresh pour over coffee, listening to a classic record during a breathtaking sunset across the valley, or relaxing in the cedar hot tub under a starry night sky.

The space
Perched above Yucca Valley with views stretching from east to west, this mid-century homestead that sits on 2.5 acres was recently renovated for the modern traveler.

BEDROOMS — 2 bedrooms · sleeps 4
We’ve outfitted both bedrooms with comfortable queen-size Tuft & Needle memory foam mattresses, down pillows and premium bedding so you can wake up refreshed from a great night’s sleep or a sunny afternoon nap. If needed, we have non-down, hypoallergenic pillows and comforters available.

BATHROOM — The bathroom has been completely remodeled around the original, desert-hued cast iron bathtub. The custom-built double vanity has ample space for 2 people to get ready for the next adventure. End your day with a calming shower or soothing bath.

LIVING AREA — Our open living area invites you to spend time together while lounging or cooking a meal for 4 in our kitchen fully equipped with a gas stove, dishwasher, both Chemex & French press coffee makers, and 1950’s style SMEG refrigerator. We’ve curated a selection of vinyl records, books, and games to keep you entertained throughout your stay. Get cozy watching complimentary Netflix on our 43” 4K television or stream all your favorite music in high fidelity on our Bluetooth 4.0 stereo.

OUTDOOR AREA — The south-facing yard is set up with an outdoor dining table, couch, hand-made wood bench, hammock, lounge chairs, and a gas fire pit. There is a new, custom-built pergola to shade the patio along the South and West sides of the house. When the weather is nice, you can enjoy a meal at the outdoor dining table with seating for 6. As the sun sets, turn on the string lights & pour yourself a glass of wine, relax and chat under the cosmos.

HOT TUB — accommodates 4-6 people and is professionally serviced between every guest stay for optimal water quality :)
We've built a custom cedar hot tub for guests to soak and unwind during all seasons. A circular cedar bench provides comfortable seating while enjoying hydrotherapy jets. We keep the water at 98 degrees in the summer and 104 degrees in winter but you can always set to your preferred temperature. TIP: bring a pair of sandals or flip flops for the walk from the house to the hot tub so you won’t track dirt into the hot tub or the house.

PLANTS & WILDLIFE — Mojave Moon sits in a small neighborhood of homes with expansive natural landscapes overlooking mountains and the valley. You’ll be surrounded by many Joshua Trees, numerous species of cactus, and desert willows. In the early mornings and evenings, our home is often visited by Quails, Roadrunners, Doves, Hummingbirds, Jack Rabbits, Cottontail Rabbits, and Antelope Squirrels. Occasionally, you’ll get to hear the Great Horned Owls and howling Coyotes.

This is our home away from home & we love the magical, calming effects of the desert. We hope you enjoy your stay as well!

Guest access
Mojave Moon is your private sanctuary. You have full access to the home and 2.5 acre property except for the garage. Feel free to explore and enjoy the incredible views of the valley.

Please do not feed or touch the neighbor’s horses. These beautiful creatures are best observed from afar as they are easily scared.

Other things to note
GETTING TO THE HOME
There are multiple ways to get to Mojave Moon, ALL of which include dirt roads. The most direct route is through a dirt wash which should not be used when raining as there is a flooding risk (this is extremely rare but sometimes happens). We’ll provide details with photos in our check-in guide in the Airbnb app for all routes after booking. Four-wheel drive is not required, but we highly recommend it for peace of mind.

Please be mindful you are visiting the desert and a slower pace of living. The satellite internet works great for web browsing, movies, and music streaming but not video chats. You may spot a few different critters passing through and hear coyotes howling from time to time. Do not leave food outside and respect the landscape around you.

This house has old plumbing and has a septic system. PLEASE do not flush anything other than toilet paper. We also don’t have a garbage/food disposal, so please discard leftover food waste into the trash can.

We currently live in Sausalito, CA, but escape to the desert often as it's our home away from home. We adore traveling to learn about various cultures & lifestyles. One of our favorite ways to experience these is often through local cuisine, off-the-beaten-path locales and making new friends. After years of being Airbnb guests and staying in the homes of wonderful hosts around the world we decided to become hosts ourselves. A few years back we fell in love with the Mojave Desert during our first trip and haven't stopped thinking about it since. We found a home that captured everything that we loved from natural landscapes, Joshua trees, wildlife, panoramic views, and the quiet calm of the desert. Since then we revived it with renovations inside and out and will continue to improve it as the years go on. It's been our dream to create a home that helps our guests fall in love with the desert too!
