My dad is going to be hosting you, he loves to cook so maybe You get to try some of his famous lemon pie :) if you want to experience the real Costa Rica, this is the place to stay, my dad was born and raise at Sarchi, and service is a second nature to him. He lives at a very costarican neighborhood where everybody knows each other. Sarchi is famous for its hand painted oxcarts, and fine wood hand made souvenirs. Sarchi is a very small town, and my dads family has been here forever!! A relative of him created in 1923 an oxcart factory and it is named Eloy Alfaro oxcart factory. The genius of Don Eloy allowed the installation of an efficient hydraulic energy system that generates 12 horsepower, powered by a nearby river called Trojas, which sets in motion all the machinery required in the workshop. From its founding until now, Eloy Alfaro Factory is known for its excellence in ironwork necessary for the production of carts, especially for the branding of the wheels. This is the only factory of carts in the country that has worked and keeps working with hydropower. Looking forward to meet you!
One bedroom with single bed garden view, a small closet to put your things.
Double bed might be available please ask.
My dad is usually at The house, he is retired so You can expect seeing him in the house during the day too. He loves to help people and get to know people so he is the kind of person that will like to interact with you and get to know you a little bit.
Is a typical costa rican neighborhood. Everybody know everybody.
There are taxis and buses that go to Grecia or Naranjo and from there you can take another bus to San Jose or the airport.
A taxi from Sarchi to the airport is something like $50 or ¢25000 colones.
My dad loves gardening and flowers, from late february to march you can see the beautiful orchids that blossom.
If you want to see a real Costa Rican town, go to Sarchi! We happened to be there the same time with the local festival and rodeo. It was great to experience it with the locals. People didn't speak much english but it didn't end up being that big of a deal. People in Sarchi are happy, helpful and understanding. we always felt safe here.
Me and my boyfriend stayed with Emilio for few days. Vanessa wasn't at home so it was just the three of us. Us not speaking spanish and Emilio speaking little english caused many funny scenes, all in great faith! The house is very cosy and well taken care of.
He made us feel welcome and clearly wanted to help us more than he could - for the language barrier. He's one of the most warm hearted person we've ever met. If you get to stay with Emilio it will be one the highlights of your trip!
