FALL IN LOVE WITH NEW ENGLAND any time of year at our four season retreat in the Litchfield hills - Our waterfront home is on Connecticut's 76-acre Park Pond in the foothills of the Berkshires, offering scenery and proximity to many wonderful activities. This is a rural home and you will need a car. There is no public transportation available.
ACTIVITIES: Leaf-peep, nature and bird watch. Fish and kayak in the fall and spring. Snow shoe, ski, skate and ice fish in the winter. Swim, tube and sail in the summer.
THE HOUSE: The great room offers a stunning view of the water. Sliding glass doors lead to a large deck with outdoor table and barbeque grill. The lawn below ends at our small beach and dock.
In addition to the great room on the first floor there is 1 bedroom with a queen bed, a lovely new bathroom with tub/shower, and an eat-in kitchen. The second floor has two more bedrooms one with twin beds and a water view and one with a daybed and mountain view. There is a brand-new bathroom with generous sized-shower on the second floor. Good airflow and ceiling fans in every bedroom maintain a comfortable temperature throughout the house. There is no air conditioning. Forced air heat keeps the house toasty in winter.
THE ENVIRONMENT: Our guests are encouraged to go "green" by being conservative in the use of water and soap. For this reason, the property is not appropriate for large parties. There is no dish or clothes washer. Cable television and high-speed internet is available and you can watch DVDs on the color TV in living room and downstairs bedroom. A telephone is available for local, emergency and calling card calls.
Children are always welcome but their adults must understand that this property is on the water. Children must be watched at all times. We cannot accommodate pets or smokers.
THE AREA: Four state forests are nearby and every drive is a scenic one. In winter, the pond is used for cross-country skiing, snow-mobiling, snow shoeing and ice fishing. Downhill skiing is 15 minutes driving distance from the house. This is a quiet rural area. There are a few other homes and two summer camps on the pond.
The town of Winsted, three miles away, offers many activities including antique and curio shops, festivals and community events, restaurants, wineries, go carts, batting cages, a free-public skate park, a multiplex movie theatre for everyone, and a dinner movie theater.

This was my first airbnb experience and I am hooked! I travel often for business and have been staying at hotels. They are scarce in the Torrington area! Myself and a coworker stayed at the lovely home on the lake. It was such a joy! The home was comfortable and had everything we needed. I can not wait to go back in the spring when the pond is thawed and we can sit on the deck. From the minute you walk in the house, you feel welcome and comfortable.
It was so nice to stay a close commute to Torrington. Making the arrangements was a breeze, Jim was very helpful.
Wonderful stay!! More than I expected!
We had a wonderful time staying here! Christine and her husband were great, thank you!
Christine was very responsive to all my inquiries as we lead up to the date we were arriving. She was also flexible with our arrival time. The cottage was very cozy! It fit myself, my husband, my grandparents and my parents. It was so warm and welcoming, with a lovely view of the lake. Christine was incredibly thoughtful and left salt for the icy steps that lead to the front of the house as a storm was expected to come around the time we were arriving. This was my first Air BnB experience and it was quite a positive one!
Christine was easy to deal with throughout the whole booking process and immediately leading up to our stay. She was very responsive and organized, which put my mind at ease. In addition, she has many activity suggestions and house information for her guests and we felt that helped us get the most out of stay.
This cottage was perfect for our long weekend. The location is within an easy 15-20 drive of grocery stores and restaurants. The pond (which is large enough to feel like a lake) is gorgeous and clean. The kayaks provided made exploring the pond so fun and easy. Swimming right from the backyard was awesome. The deck is reason enough to stay at the house. The family has excellent quality chairs for relaxing on the deck with a view of the pond. Great light and sun in the morning and breezes in the afternoon. The house overall was clean and well - appointed. The basic cooking and bath staples that were provided really went beyond the "basics" and made the stay easier than most.
Thank you, Christine!
The pond is beautiful, and the property is literally right on the water with a cute little dock. We stayed only two nights, and enjoyed taking out a kayak on both days.
The house has a good size kitchen and nice big deck that overlooks the pond. There are neighbors close by, but plenty of trees on both sides to provide privacy.
Christine made everything very easy for us as far as providing the key, directions and info. She was very easy to get ahold of, via email and phone, both before and during our stay.
I’d recommend this home to family and friends, and anyone looking for a getaway from the city to enjoy the outdoors.
Beautiful lake side setting. Very peaceful and nice place to stay for a weekend.
We had a wonderful time at the lakeside cottage. The location is absolutely beautiful and the cottage is perfect for vacation with family or friends. I did not meet with Christine but she made the all process of getting and returning the keys very easy. Inside the house, there are tiny notes pinned everywhere with great advice on how to use things, which makes it really easy to get settled in the house; Our 3 year old enjoyed playing with the numerous puzzles and books available in the house. Although the cottage is literally on the water, I found it to be pretty child-proof as long as you keep an eye on them at all times to make sure they don't get too close to the water. Overall, great experience;
Such a lovely cottage, and beautiful surroundings... The whole procedure of renting the place was swift and easy. Definitely a great place for both winter & summer... This 100% gets my recommendation : )... Thanks to the Negroni Family
This cottage on the lake is the cure for the overstimulation of daily city life. The cottage is pleasant and well appointed. The setting is peaceful, serene and picturesque. Bring food because once on the deck, you won't want to leave. The lake is inviting, but water shoes are recommended. We lazed for hours in the river tubes provided. We will be back.
Cute little house! We enjoyed our stay.
