Great beach house, it is truly right on the beach. The house was clean, big and it had everything we needed (including towels and kitchen utensils). We only stayed for 3 days so we couldn't spend that much time on the house but it had an amazing view and the caretaker, Don Chepe, was super nice. He even told us there were some sloths. At night you can hear the congos really close to you. Definitely a place we want to go back.
The pictures of the house doent´s show much how beautiful the place is, Location is just perfect!! If weater is favorable, the place is just paradise!
The photos don't even begin to show how beautiful it was. The house is large & airy, though somewhat rustic. Steps away from the most incredible beach. We found the location great, away from town but still within a minute to nearby ammenities. José and family were friendly & helpful even showing us sloths!
Take lots of games and books!
Could not pick a better location! This has to be one of the most beautiful places on Earth! We picked this house because we were traveling with three young children and we wanted to be as close to the beach as possible. We were not disappointed, and, in fact, it was better than I imagined! There is coral all over just off the shore so even the kids were able to snorkel This house is the last one on the beach before the point so it was very private. There are a few other houses and a small restaurant that share the beach to the right, so we often saw other people out and about, but we pretty much had the beach completely to ourselves. There is a jungle path that you can hike to the point of Punta Uva for a breath taking view, or you can take the road in front of the house for a short walk (few minutes) over to the other Punta Uva beach. There are public parking lots for these beaches and many colorful, charming fishing boats. We enjoyed an afternoon there, but overall we preferred our beach. During our time in the area we visited all of the beaches and thought this beach, hands down, the most beautiful beach in the area. The caretaker and his family are delightful! Very warm, welcoming, friendly. They knocked a few coconuts down from the tree for us upon our arrival and sliced them open and put a straw in them! So charming :) There are also 2 three-toed sloths that live on the property and we were even able to hold one when he climbed off the tree. The caretaker was always willing to point out where the sloths were (they moved to different trees daily). Wonderful people! My Spanish is pretty weak, and it made me wish I spoke better so I could have communicated with them better. They were always onsite and this made us feel very safe and comfortable leaving all of our belongings there. They have a black lab dog who barked anytime someone walked anywhere near the house (but never at us) so that was a plus too. The house itself has two challenges- the hot water for the shower is a heater attached to the shower head. I would get a small shock when I touched the metal handle to adjust the temperature, but this is solved by using a dry towel to turn it on/off . Second, I would receive tiny shocks when putting something in the pan on the portable electric stove top. I just used socks for oven mitts and this solved the problem. The house feels a bit more like camping in a cabin- so take it as part of the adventure :) The sliding doors that open the kitchen to a balcony with a bar was my favorite. My kids ate breakfast there every day and watch the birds, iguanas, etc. getting their breakfast too...
