Comfortable double room in a friendly and quiet historic area of Cork City, across from Elizabethan Fort and St. Fin Barre's Cathedral, five minute walk from city centre shopping, entertainment, and parks. House supervised by one very cool housecat.
A five minute walk from the city center, and free parking right outside the front door.
Guests have full access to the entire house and cooking equipment.
I will be home part of the time. I have lived in Cork City most of my life so I am happy to share my local knowledge of Cork City with guests.
The estate was built in the 18th century to accommodate the soldiers from the Elizabethan fort during its reconstruction. (the original wall still surrounds my estate). A wonderful, quiet cul de sac with fantastic neighbors.
10 mins walk from bus station and 20 mins walk from train station
Help yourself to tea or coffee at anytime day or night, and cereal and juice are available in the morning all included in the price.
Desmond's place is lovely and warm. He is a very good and friendly guy, unfortunately we didn't have time to talk with him as we stayed only for one day. His apartment is in a perfect location and he is a proud owner of a lovely cat!
Nice place to stay at
Des tips for the city & places to shop from were very helpful
Thank you very much Des & hope to see you soon :)
The host was great in this location. He provided us great conversation, a brief history of Ireland and great local directions and advice.
Desmond Jordan was very nice chap and was also very helpful with direction and a place to eat. He also collected me and brought me to his house
The reservation was canceled 8 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Des was most accommodating. Anything I asked for he was more than happy to supply. He even met me at the train station (about a 10 min walk) when I first arrived.
Des is a great host. He is very accommodating and helpful. His house is in an ideal location (10 mins walk from the city centre) and has the advantage of being in a close so there is very minimal traffic noise at night. We had a great stay.
Des is a great host - he was welcoming from the moment I walked in the door, a great source of chat, local info, history and directions while I was with him, and even helpful after I left (when I left a book behind and he contacted me about it).
The house was clean, tidy and warm. Tea was real, the fridge was open, but I wasn't there quite long enough for the cat to get friendly.
The location was ideal for me - a straight drive down from my daytime activity, and then very handy to the centre of Cork - which was less than 10 minutes away on foot. Except for all the stops to check out the many take-aways/restaurants on the way. I've been to Cork before and was disappointed at the lack of restaurants - turns out that that was only because they are all up this end of town.
Would recommend a stay in Desmond's place to anyone, and a second stay to myself, so that I can
