Herrick Rd. is a beautiful 1900 farmhouse with a very simple, back to basic style. The house looks over Walker Pond (across the street) and echoes wonderful songs of the loon in the mornings. The house has all the basics you will need, and a fully equipped kitchen, including Lobster pots for the stove or outdoor fire pit. There is s gas grill as well. The kitchen stove is an old 3 burner gas unit. It is very basic and very simple to use. There is also a microwave and coffee makers.

The space
Herrick Rd. is an OLD farmhouse built in 1900.

PLEASE NOTE: If you can NOT tolerate any kind of small bug or insect, dust, possibly a cobweb in an unreachable spot, then we highly suggest you think twice before vacationing in an OLD FARMHOUSE. Even in its most supreme state of CLEANLINESS, a farmhouse always has quirks. If you want sterile clean and hotel like, then this is not the ideal Airbnb for your pleasures and we would suggest looking for something different.

With that said, it is a very clean and very beautiful, tranquil home that looks out over Walker Pond (across the street). Loons are on the pond echoing their songs every morning. There high speed internet, but no cable TV, shocking but true! The house has DVD players on the TV sets and the house has many movies for rainy days. Cell phones work well in the area most of the time. There are 3 bedrooms. A master with a queen bed. One bedroom has two twins and the third has another queen. There are two bathrooms, each with a shower, no tub in the house. There is a washer and dryer. We have added an outdoor shower, great for after beach days.
There is much to do in this area! In Brooksville there is a general market and a fine dinning restaurant, BUCKS. Bucks harbor Yacht Club is across the street that has tennis courts and beautiful views of the harbor. Visit Coming About, a sweet gathering place for anyone who wants to sit, get on wifi, have a free cup of coffee and meet interesting people. Next door is a local pottery shop, Mahala Bishop with an array of beautiful pottery and showcasing local painters and their works.
Also in Brooksville is Tinder Hearth. If you can get a reservation it's worth it! They make the BEST pizzas on Tuesday and Thursday nights, 4:30PM-7:30PM, with dining in their barn (and also take out). It's a beautiful place, very picturesque and worth going to, they serve an amazing dinner and it's all grown right there on their farm. NOTE - BE SURE to reserve your night as they are VERY popular and fill up fast! Find them on Face Book or their website for menus and phone number.

Bluehill is 20 min. away with an amazing Co-op, if you want all organic! The town offers fine dinning, a local steel band festival on certain nights, shopping and many art galleries!

Past Bluehill is Ellsworth which has a downtown of shopping, movies, and a great Jamaican restaurant, Taste Jamaica! Very good!

Continue going north and you'll reach Bar harbor, a celebrated vacation destination on Mount Desert Island that is the gateway to Acadia National Park, it possesses a rich history and culture unlike any other. Acadia National Park can be accessed right from downtown Bar Harbor. Tons of a great hiking trails for all levels. If you're in Bar Harbor our FAVORITE eatery is Geddy's! Family-friendly spot dishing out pub grub, seafood & beer amid kitschy signage & nautical decor. Great Margaritas, SO good!

Other areas to note; Stonington, a century old fishing village, harbors Maine's second largest lobstering fleet.
Walk the historic streets of Castine.
Quieter escapes; Deer Isle, Penobscot, Sedgwick, Surry and Orland. Abundant restaurants, museums, theater, music, shops, galleries, antiques and more provide just the right amount of activity to complement this peaceful setting.
This area has attracted a creative mix of craftspeople, artists, writers, antiques, photographers, and musicians, while preserving a treasured unpretentiousness that visitors and Mainers savor.

And let's not forget the BLUEBERRIES! As you drive the roads you'll notice strange looking fields with boulders throughout and you may think they're odd looking. They're blueberry fields, wild blueberries. If you're here in the month of August you'll be able to enjoy the wild blueberries! This area of Maine is ALL blueberry fields!!

With that said, Enjoy your Maine Vacation!
