Interaction with Guests

We respect our guests' privacy so after an initial meeting to check in we keep out of your way.

The Neighborhood

Jamaica Plain is a trendy, lovely neighborhood of Boston within 10 minutes of downtown Boston via subway. We are surrounded by many green spaces. All kinds of people feel comfortable in JP, as we call it. We are tolerant of differences of all kinds.

Other Things to Note

We have just invested in a new internet router and booster. However, our experience has been that different devices interact differently with our modem and router. If you have problems with the internet, we will try our very best to get it going for you but we hope that you understand that we are not a hotel or other institution where there is a whole department to deal with internet issues. Fortunately, we are in an urban area where there are many public spaces where you can log in to the internet for absolutely no charge.

House Rules

International guests: Please make sure your visa/work permits are in order. We cannot refund your money if you are unable to come because your paperwork was not in order. No smoking indoors, only on the deck. No pets. Will consider a small cat or dog. Come and go as you please. No loud music please. Own housekeeping during your stay. Linens, towels and kitchen linens provided. We leave you with enough basic supplies such as toilet paper, coffee, etc., but if you need more, the understanding is that you will buy them yourself. That is how we keep our prices low. Coffee, tea and cocoa provided free. Additional breakfast for initial morning can be purchased for an additional fee of $10-20. Only 2 adults allowed - will consider small child with parents. IF YOU BRING IN AN ADDITIONAL PERSON, YOU WILL BE EVICTED IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS FOR YOUR PROTECTION AND BECAUSE OF CITY LAWS. THE PLACE IS TOO SMALL FOR MORE THAN 2 PEOPLE. Please request a cot if needed. Also be aware that we work during the day and cannot always let you in before 5 pm on the first day. However, we will make every reasonable effort to get you in as soon as possible. Finally, please be mindful that this is a guest house, NOT a hotel. We are better than a hotel because we offer way lower prices and a place that is like home. However, please take care of the place, don't shine your shoes with the towels (we provide a shoe-shine kit) and just generally be as mindful as if you were staying in a relative's home. Thank you for your consideration.
